Beautiful location, quiet and secluded, lovely and friendly staff, delicious food...leaving took a lot of effort! I recommend doing the half board. Not only are there not a lot of options near by, but the food there was great (I think we had rib eye about four nights in a row!). They also constantly brought us free bits and pieces... More

Rarely in life does the hype and excitement of what you hope to experience actually exceed all your expectations on every level. In most cases you end up with some sort of a trade off. The beach was great but the service was so-so, or the service was great but the food was average. That certainly was not the case... More

We went for a day trip. The beach is stunning, the food at the restaurant was brilliant, the massage was inexpensive and very nice. The hotel is fairly secluded, really can only walk up and down the beach unless you drive somewhere. NOT for kids unless very young. Good staff. Our taxi had trouble finding it, the road sign is... I won 't repeat the comments of other favorable reviewers. They are for the most part accurate. The major negative is the visitors who pay a fee to eat lunch and use the facilities including the palapas for the day. Most of them are rather noisy people who bring young children who are prone to shriek constantly and disturb your... More

If you are looking for something on the Mayan Riviera that does not include hundreds of people lined up in their lounge chairs, this could be for you!! This is a small b&b on a beautiful beach. You have your own palapa and lounges. The rooms are fine, simple but nice. They could use some storage for clothing. The food... More

We have made 5 trips to Al Cielo over the years and have loved every minute of every trip. While the rooms are rustic, they are comfortable and charming with the water 50 feet from your door. Only 8 people can stay there at a time with a private beach so you are completely serene in your private palapa. The... More

In the past we have stayed at all-inclusive mega resorts like Club-Med, Beaches, and Secrets, along with smaller hotels like Jamaica Inn. So I had researched thoroughly where we should spend our 10th Anniversary. I decided on Al Cielo because we wanted a private, secluded beach hotel to relax. And, for the most part, Al Cielo was a good choice.... More

We travel all around the World and have dined in some of the most exclusive restaurants. Al Cielo is Heaven on Earth. A very quaint Ocean front escape from reality with a beautiful private beach. The Restaurant serves the best food we have ever had. Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner each and everyday was state of the art, fresh and just delicious.... More

Still en route back home from a great experience at Al Cielo and missing it already. My husband and I took a much needed week of r and r to Riviera Maya. Split our time between El Taj Oceanfront in Playa del Carmen and Al Cielo. Very understated luxury. Dark woods used throughout the rooms with white linens on the... More

We have been to Riviera Maya and Tulum several times and I must say our recent trip to Al Cielo ranks as one of most pleasantly surprising experiences. Andres and his small team of friendly, attentive staff go out of the way to make you feel welcome. They are so open and friendly that at first you wonder "can it... More
