We've stayed at this hotel on numerous occasions and since Lakeland Hotels acquired it the standards have got even better. Great public rooms, super food, and delightful grounds. We always take a lake view room and they are very comfortable, well furnished and good bath/shower rooms although not the largest. Staff are very helpful although most in the restaurant seem... More

We stayed for a short break last weekend. This is an excellent hotel for anyone who enjoys the Lake District. Its in a lovely location, and there are many circular walks to be had directly from the hotel ( or take the Launch to the far side of Derwentwater and walk back). We were particualrly impressed by the restuarant -... More

We have just returned from a weeks holiday at this hotel. I stayed before with a group 7 years ago and the ambience has not changed. The staff are friendly, helpful, polite and smile at you. The rooms are clean, fresh and comfortable. The food is amazing, presentation and quality quite exceptional considering they were serving 42 every night 4... More

Recently stayed at this excellent hotel right by the lake, staff extremely helpful and friendly, rooms very well appointed and food in restaurant of an amazing standard for a hotel. Every evening the menu was a delight, well thought out and superbly prepared. Breakfast was also faultless. Very hard to understand previous critics of this hotel. The hotel is well... More

We were married at the Lodore on 14th Feb 2012. The day will live in our memories for a very long time thanks to the beautiful location, beautiful hotel, absolutely perfect rooms and service with lovely food for our wedding and reception - we are still trying to find the match of that sticky toffee pudding! This is the email... More

We had a great overnight stay in Lodore Falls for DB&B. As returning guests we were given a reduced rate. I had invited relatives [who were visiting from the USA] to join us for Dinner, one of which was very elderly. The staff enquired about special diet seating etc.and when we arrived for dinner were very solicitous and attentive. The... More

Despite recent reviews on trip advisor we booked and went for a weekend break. The hotel was in an excellent location with the welcome being of the highest order. The entire staff were helpful and knowledgeable. The food in the dining rooms was near Michelin standard and we now are on a diet! I often wonder what other people eat... More

Lovely old hotel right on derwentwater and close to all that the lake district offers if you are going by car. Our rooms were great and the food delicious. Not cheap but well worth every penny and if you like afternoon tea don't miss theirs. More

We travel at least twice per month around the world and have been upmarket hotel owners. This is a basically decent hotel that takes advantage of a fine position and captive market, but is an under invested cash-cow and stretches the art of marketing and semantics. First, its mighty expensive - you pay for the location, but the public areas,... More

Thank you for your review. Our daily table d hote menu does indeed offer two courses @ £28 or three or four courses @ £36.00, I don't really understand why this is in the slightest bit "opaque" and very much regret that the issue seems to have clouded your opinion of this wonderful hotel. I would be delighted to welcome... More
