Dear Jane & Peter, Thank you for providing such an excellent and unobtrusive presence for our family wedding last week. We took your Guest House over for a few days and everyone commented on how accommodating you both were. Peter - a big thank you from the bridesmaids in all things car related. (Not to mention the delicious breakfasts). Jane... More

If you don't want to be amongst the bustle of the big towns, then this is an ideal alternative. We stayed in room 1 for three nights and it was bliss. No noise at all, views from the window over the village and paddocks. An easy drive into Keswick or Buttermere for all of the walks or onto Derwent Water.... More

Hi, Jane & Peter, Thank you so much for looking after us. In my life I have been both a chef and a hotel manager. My friends both love and hate eating out with me. I am quite hard to please. I am so happy to finally find a place that immediately satisfied. The decor in room 3 was perfect.... More

We thoroughly enjoyed a weekend break at The Old Vicarage in October. We had stayed there before in 2007 and this visit was just as wonderful - we didn't want to leave! We requested Room 1 again, with the view to Low Fell. The en-suite bathroom with the roll-top bath is wonderful for a luxurious soak and there's also a... More

We stayed for 3 nights over NYE. Couldn't have asked for a more relaxing stay. EVERYTHING is just right and the attention to detail is fantastic. The food (both breakfast and evening meals) were delicious and the room (along with the rest of the house) is very high quality. We will, no doubt, be back! A&F More

If you want a truly wonderful B&B, set within beautiful surroundings, with first class service and food, then the Old Vicarage at Lorton is certainly it. Jane and Peter are fantastic hosts and their breakfasts and evening meals are absolutely delicious. We stayed for four nights in room 3. It was immaculate and included some lovely touches: robes; good quality... More

Peter and Jane really make you feel welcome. Both the dinner and the breakfast were superb, and the room was beautifully done. Nothing was too much trouble, and it combined luxury with a personal, friendly touch. More

Set in an idyllic setting, the Old Vicarage offered us a truly 5 star experience. Our room was exceptionally well appointed and the bathroom (including powerful shower!) was spacious and pristine. A lot of thought had gone into ensuring nothing was amiss, including a torch to get us to the pub and back in the dark! After a very comfortable... More
