the first thing that comes to the mind is its congested location, little parking space and congested reception area.the next thing that comes is the sudden change from an area of congestion to an area of expansion as you climb to the first floor through a narrowed staircase.the rooms were spacious.food quality was very good.but the complimentery breakfast was terrible, more from... Very near to the Police bazaar intersection. great location. restaurant is only by name, has three to four tables, very congested. Breakfast is horrible. not worth paying anything. Rooms are decent. Staff (Gautam and others) are friendly. Only one parking space at the hotel! There are similar cheaper options available around.

The room was average. There were a lot of smokers on the corridor I believe and the room perennially stank of smoke and it was pretty disgusting for us on-smokers. Rooms are quite comfortable but they do not have room heaters in Shillong, where temperatures go as low as 0 degrees Celsius. Service was pretty decent. The complimentary breakfast was... More

Hotel Silk Route is located in busy Police Bazar area of Shillong. It is in the main locality of city and you can get cabs for any place from here. We went there last week. The approach to hotel is very crowded and the street remains busy. Hotel looked good from outside, reception staff were polite. Interiors looked old and... More

Shillong got its name from the deity of Shillong Peak (the highest point of Meghalaya). It has been into prominence from the British Era. It is the largest town atop a hilly terrain and having the oldest 16-hole golf course in India. It is the head quarter of the Eastern Command of the Indian Air Force. Its height is almost... More

The rentals are quite high if we compare the rental with the services, facility, location or services. It is just an average kind of hotel stay where you can go stay dirty, have loads of drinks, make noises. Did Not like the place.Keep your expectations low. Not recommended for people who wish to spend to get even basic comforts.

The only great thing about this hotel is its location. The cons are cramped parking, cramped rooms, peeling plasters from the walls. But yes, the staff was nice and helpful. Could work at improvements especially the breakfast spread. Better than many other hotels in shillong.

Stayed at the Silk Route for two nights on a work trip in April 2012. Good, clean, spacious rooms and comfy bed. Reasonable bathroom and very nice shower. Free wireless that was pretty fast (for rural India). Hotel staff at reception and in (free) breakfast room were helpful and really polite. I stayed in second floor with room overlooking street--... I stayed in this hotel last month, thinking it was one of the best properties in Shillong. But, the room was cramped, had a cracked door, thus rendering the room very very cold. The jet spray in the bathroom was a mere dangling showpiece. Parking in the basement was a pain in the neck ( yes, when you have to... More

I stayed there at silk route recently in feb'12 and had a good experiences + hotel is at a good location, provides wireless internet . whereas on the negative side the rooms are ok, not much big, food and drinks are over priced as compared to Shillong standards but for metro city the prices are OK , my suggestion: it...
