3 lots of us stayed for a wedding reception on a Thursday & Friday night. Yes it is "tired", and the pillows skimpy, but it is central to trains, shopping and beach, and we booked at £10 a night! At £59, would have looked elsewhere. A highlight is the glass bins being emptied at 6.30 at the back of the... More

I made a previous post about a month ago, me and my boyfriend stayed in the Travelodge Basildon. After complaining to the Travelodge directly they offerd me a £25 e voucher. So I had a look at this one as was the closest to us. As we booked in advance the prices were cheaper (which is a bonus). The room... More

I wish I had read the reviews before booking this place - lesson learnt!!! The only good thing first - the guy behind the reception shelf was friendly and moved my friend and I to the "quiter" area of the hotel without us even asking. The bad things Reception smelt heavily of cigarette smoke and alcohol The whole hotel was... More

This Travelodge has typical minimalist faclilities. Clean, tidy, and functional. The problem is the siting of the hotel. It is situated above a nightclub, with its associated late night street noise (to be fair to Travelodge you are warned about this and they apologise in advance). The entrance to the hotel is in a High Street and is not immediately... More

The staff were really great and friendly. Then you have the hotel, where to start....... looks a bit grim from the outside but all the buildings nearby have that same grey outlook. Reception seemed ok staff really helpful as we arrived early and I then requested a quiet room as I had my young daughter with me. However we had... More

For £29 a night you don't expect much, this failed to live up to that minimum expectation. Being directed to a room that smelt vaguely of sick, and distinctly of cigarettes we decided to spend as little time in the room as possible for the three nights we had booked. Here's a potted summary. 1 towel between 2 2 pillows... More

I am a fan of Travelodges which are superb for cheap weekends away and this is our 4th visit to this one. The male receptionist was very helpful and spent time trying to find a quiet room for us as the hotel was almost full and offered to let us swap if the room was too noisy. We ended up... More

The good points: reception staff (a male, name unknown) was helpful and courteous. Bathroom taps and sink etc were clean to a good standard. Carpet and desk clean. TV in the room was very modern and good quality although there was no remote control. Good quality kettle and teabags etc. Good decor standard. Bed linens and towels were clean, spare... More

I booked 2 double rooms for 3 nights. one worked out about £35 per night and the other (in a sale) was £20 per night. My room was at the front and I have to agree with previous reviews that it does sound like the window is still open late at night when the pubs/clubs chuck out. I was on... More
