Stayed one night in Polly's attic to experience Whitstable on this freezing but fun Easter weekend. In this small but perfectly formed room, you get your own little place in keeping with Harbour Street. The excellent pubs, restaurants and sea front are very close by - 2 minutes walk. We were very cosy here as a couple with 7 year... More

We had stayed at The Captains house before but never the attic. Very quirky but a bit disappointing for £105. Stayed one night. Bin in bathroom had not been emptied and shower is tiny and in need of new mastic as very mouldy. Breakfast was OK but compared to the one we had enjoyed at Captains, not up to scratch.... More

Just back from a two night stay in Polly's Attic in Whitstable. Yes it is a small space but it is perfectly laid out and cosy. A lot of thought was obviously put into it by the owners. As far as a central location goes it can't really get any better! Most of the restaurants and pubs are within a... More

Just back from 2 nights at Polly's Attic. We were greeted very warmly and settled into the cosy and beautifully designed studio room ideal for a couple on a romantic break. Large comfortable bed and sofa and cute kitchen area with kettle, toaster and microwave so you can be self sufficient if you want to be. The charming Polly delivered... More

Photographs always make a place look more chic and bigger so we were ok with that when we got there but this place really is tiny - god knows what we would have done if there were 4 of us! I got a bit nervous with the whole experience before our arrival when the owners were slack at confirming they'd... More

On one of the very rare occasions that we have had to be away from Whitstable, the level of service provided at Polly's Attic may not have come up to our usual standards. If this was the case it is very, very disappointing. In light of the above, we would have offered to compensate our guests for their grievances, had... More

We booked Polly's Attic last minute. Reading through the reviews it's easy to assess why they vary so wildly. The attic itself is charming, bright, cheerful and really cosy. Situated above a wine shop (soon to close down) it's nestled along quaint Harbour St, which is dotted with boutiques, cafes (one next door) and restaurants and is a 5 minute... More

It is really such a shame that these lovely guests were disappointed with certain aspects Polly's Attic, though I am glad that they enjoyed their stay overall. I feel I must, however, clear up one or two misconceptions that could be confusing for other guests. There is a separate bunk-type bed built into the rafters of Polly's Attic which is... More

The owner evicted us half way through a bank holiday booking, calling us back from a family wedding to pack our bags and leave. Apparently we had infringed the family run bed and breakfast code by enquiring whether the bed was going to be made of not, for £105 per night. This conversation, the only one to take place with... These guests were, quite clearly, unhappy with the accommodation we provide at The Captain's House. Unfortunately they had expected to arrive at a 4* hotel, rather than a family run B&B, and treated us accordingly. When I phoned Mrs Reardon to discuss the difficulties we were encountering she refused to speak to me, point-blank; leaving me no alternative but to... More

What a perfect base for a weekend trip to Whitstable. Only a 10/15minute walk from the train station and right amongst the hussle of the Harbour Street and 2mins walk from the Harbour (a great place for a fresh fish lunch). The accommodation is simple but really charming, although for taller people be aware there are lots of slopey ceilings... More

Tiny self contained attic with microwave, sink and fridge. The only issue was the (sofa!) bed which I found quite uncomfortable but my wife found ok. It has a very central location and must be one of the best (and quirkiest) places to stay in Whitstable including having the added element of privacy on normal B&Bs or hotels. The owner... More

I'm just back from Whitstable where I spent a couple of nights. I fell in love with this lovely town, which was made even more lovely by being able to stay in the gorgeous Polly's Attic. I was so happy that I found such a brilliant, unusual place to stay....definitely not your usual b+b / guest house accommodation. Polly's Attic... More
