Having dined here both when it held its michelin star and without, it is a very picturesk area, buildings are superb with their thatched roofs and original beams, very cosy and quaint. we also stayed at the star, where again it was fabulous, lovely cosy rooms, very welcoming. Each individual room from the lounge (with an honesty bar) to the... More

(Reposted on under The Pheasant, Harome too - as i am still utterly unclear as to who manages/owns the place) We initially attempted to book accommodation at the Star, but were told owing to a wedding (more and more about this later) the only accommodation remaining was in the black eagle cottages, which looked decent on the internet so we... Thank you for taking the time to leave your comments. I am the owner and chef here at 'The Star Inn' and have been here for sixteen years, so I do not envisage a management change for a while yet! Black Eagle Cottages and The Pheasant are a separate business entirely to us. Regards Andrew Pern More

There are two sides to The Star Inn at Harome. The olde worldy thatched quaint pub and the ultra moden stylish restaurant. We sat in the pub side on arrival and downed se pre lunch drinks. There as a lovely log fire roaring away and attentative staff. The set menu is limited to only one item in each course, which is fine... More

Smashing super great........ Had a very pleasant evening. They did all the main things right but some lovely little extras, late honesty bar, the excellent barman and his helpful attitude, the real milk in the rooms with mugs for tea not stupid little cups. Proper sized glasses for fruit juice. Great pub great bar. Had dinner very simple for a... More

Booked two nights in March and were given the "garden shed". It is a garden shed albeit a brick one. Very small and scruffy. Crockery chipped and stained. You were given your breakfast to cook yourself on the mini electric belling cooker (last time saw one of these was a fishing hut in 1978). Put breakfast on to cook at... More

As we are a pub first and foremost, obviously we encourage all walks of life to vist us, including gnomes who will actually feel quite at home here with the 14th century architecture! The hampers provided are for you to cook your own breakfast at your own leisure, which is the self catering aspect of the cottage. The walk to... More

My husband treated me to the 'chef for the day' experience, it was a day very well spent, I was looked after initially by Andrew Pern and then Steve, Mark and the rest of the kitchen staff who were all very accomodating, patient and helpful despite having a busy schedule. I picked up lots of tips to improve my own... More

I am so glad to hear that you enjoyed your day and picked up some useful tips! The 'Chef For The Day' course is always great fun and more relaxed than people think in the kitchen. We have great staff who oddly enough seem to be on my wave length of making everyone feel welcome and giving them a fantastic... More

Spent a night DBB in glorious weather on March 27 2012. We obtained a bargain reduction at the last minute. The rooms are across the road from the hotel - could be an issue if raining. The accommodation block, is a quirky, stylish modern meets farm buildings style with lots of stone and bare wood. Honesty bar, nibbles available in... More

We were aware of the reputation of the Star Inn and the awards they have received so we decided to make the trip for a lunch and try it for ourselves. The pub was snug and welcoming with a blazing open fire. The same menu is available in the bar and restaurant so we decided to eat in the restaurant.... More

My boyfriend and I recently visited the Star Inn for lunch as a treat for his birthday. We travelled down from Sunderland and were made to feel very welcome from the outset. The bar is perfect for people who like the more casual bar atmosphere but with top notch food to go with it. We were shown to a table... More
