After reading the other reviewers' reviews of the Old Royal Oak, I thought it all sounded too good to be true... And to an extent it all was, but the bottom line is that it's a very clean, warm during the cold months (can't vouch for the warm ones!) and old-fashioned B&B, with good amenities and located right in the... I haven't actually stayed in the Royal Oak, but go there regularly for lunch. Sunday roasts are brilliant!! Sometimes struggle to get a table as it is always packed out... Friendly staff, clean and hygenic, great atmosphere and nice locals! It is a quaint Yorkshire place and as I'm not originally from the area, somewhere I love to go on... More

We have just returned from a 4 day stay at The old Royal Oak Inn and cannot recommend it highly enough! The owner, Kathleen and her husband are such lovely people who nothing is too much trouble for. Kath even printed off our boarding tickets, saving us £20 at Leeds Airport. Accommodation is very cosy and private with all mod... More

Booked all 6 rooms for a family wedding and could not fault the place. Rooms well fitted and furnished, well sized especially the room adapted for the disabled. A good plentiful breakfast provided by excellent hosts. We will certainly returning. More

Having seen Channel 4's '3 in a bed' programme, I was fascinated with the idea of visting Knaresborough. Returning back from York in July 2011 we passed through Knaresborough and loved it that much that we returned for the bank holiday weekend. I booked this hotel not realising that it was the very same bed and breakfast that appeared in... More

This was a last minute couple of nights away for my husband and I, the location was right in the centre of Knaresborough with lots of places to eat, although the Old Royal Oak had excellent food especially the huge breakfast. The room we had was the especially adapted disabled room which was really spacious. There was free car parking... More

This is a small, friendly hotel offering B&B in good sized comfortable and clean rooms. I was pleased to find a shower cubicle that you could turn around in withou hitting the sides! It was obvious that the owners have tried hard to make you feel welcome and it worked. We were slightly disappointed that Knaresborough has very little in... More

We stayed in the room that has been specially adapted for less able visitors and it was very spacious and well furnished. The en suite bathroom was huge and had every possible aid, e.g grab rails, wet room shower with safety rails, a raised toilet and lower basin etc. Furniture and fittings were of a very high quality. The beds... More

We have stayed in a broad range of bed and breakfasts and the Old Royal Oak is up there with the best. Beautiful rooms, gorgous beer garden which has won TheKnaresborogh in Bloom for the past 4 years and a great menu for breakfast. The staff are so friendly and helpful it's like a home from home More
