A fantastic very remote location (car is a must) in the heart of the north english countryside and it is very tranquil. There are many local tourist attractions including several castles - we visited Alnwick castle (where they filmed Harry Potter!) We stayed at Callaly Cottage in June 2000 and when we decided on a couple of days in Northumberland this October its the first place we thought of! That says everything.
