We were three adults and a 6 year old boy visiting Alnwick, over Easter weekend 2013, and were not very hopeful of finding too many places open serving food on an Easter Sunday evening. We then discovered the recently refurbished Queens Head Hotel which was serving evening meals and had a Sunday Roast on offer. We were somewhat sceptical about... More

Best haddock and chips for a very long time! Much better tasting than Carlo's fish restaurant a few doors down and better ambience. Great waitress service too. Can't fault for value for money Just needs to widen veggie choices a wee bit.

Today was cold, very cold and while looking for somewhere to shelter from the cold stumbled across The Queens Head. We were only going to have a drink while we warmed up but saw someone having a steak pie for lunch. So we both ordered one and are very pleased to say it tasted as good as it looks!

My husband and I had visited Alnwick today and were looking for somewhere to have lunch. We noticed the sign offering Winter Warmer menu , which included ham and leek broth with roll and butter and " the best steak pie in the world" for £ 8.99. My husband, being a fan of pies suggested we tried it. My goodness,... More

Called in for lunch before visiting Alnwich castle, this has to be the best place in Alnwich to eat, excellent food and service. Not over priced like many places and if the this area again would eat here again.

We were late arriving in Alnwick and were walking around the town looking for somewhere to eat dinner. We eventually decided to try the Queen's Head, not a positive choice but because there was limited options. We did not expect anything more than standard pub grub. In the event the food exceeded all expectations and was a delight. The pies... More

Our room was clean and well equipped.. Very quiet considering the town centre location and no noise from the nearby bar. The staff were very friendly and helpful - great welcome. The cooked breakfast was delicious. The only minus was that the entrance to the rooms was through the bar and we were told that the door would be locked... More

It's getting two stars because the lady who helped was lovely but otherwise there is little to recommend. - this is a pub with rooms. Not a hotel (despite the hopeful naming) - the decor is tired and old. Both inside and out. - access is through the pub (check in at the bar then follow the sign to the... More

Room was great, much better than our "4 star" stay in Newcastle. Great location, right on the main street, friendly staff and fantastic Full English breakfast (with choice of toast, fruit, yoghurt too). Particularly nice touches were the warm reception in the mornings, the offer to lend DVDs to watch from the Landlord's personal collection and the chance to sample... More

This place is ideal to explore the castle and gardens. Park your car at the rear of the hotel and forget it for a couple of days. Rooms clean and big, staff lovely. In the town centre ( if Alnwick has a town centre !) there is plenty to do , Market ,museums Alfreco cafes and one off shops.
