After arriving in the beautiful seaside town of Stanley, a truly unique and indulgent experience awaits at the Old Cable Station. Feast your eyes and stomach with the tranquil surrounds and experience of the restaurant. Showcasing local produce, the oven cooked crayfish was the smash of the evenings dining. We sincerely thanks our hosts for being guests at their magnificent... More

On arriving we were shown to our beautiful King Room which contained a large bathroom with full size claw bath, shower and basin, kitchenette, dining table with 2 chairs and large flat screen TV. A sliding glass door opened onto an outside patio with table and chairs overlooking beautiful Cape Grim Beef cattle crazing contentedly with the blue Southern Ocean... More

My partner and I enjoyed a stay and dine package at the Cable Station. Everything about our weekend away was fantastic. The room was well set-up, modern and clean. We really enjoyed the high quality and locally sourced toiletries, and the lavish breakfast hamper (again filled with locally sourced produce). Our hosts Euan and Jacqueline were friendly and helpful. The... More

A lovely stay. Our husband and wife hosts were very friendly and hospitable. We enjoyed hearing their stories of their travels. We dined in the restaurant and it was just wonderful. A meal to remember. We really enjoyed our time here.

I stayed here a few weeks ago and thought it was great! The property is (as the name suggests) the old cable station that used to facilitate communications with the mainland and has been converted into a small, boutique B&B with only a handful of rooms. The property is set on a rugged piece of land just outside of Stanley... More

We stayed in the Postmaster's cottage, which was incredible - we could easily live there in spacious comfort. Our hosts Euan and Jacqueline (and their lovely dog Eriska) were so welcoming and friendly and made our stay a memorable one. Our dinner at the restaurant was spectacular (congrats on the Restaurant of the Year award guys!) and the surrounds were... More

I stayed at the Old Cable Station on the 1st day of my Tasmania trip with my parents, we shared the Telephone Room, the room is very large with a Queen Bed and large Single Bed and a sofa, so plenty of space for 3 people. The only slip up was that there were only 2 chairs at the dining/breakfast... More

Stayed for one night, mid-January 2013. The property is located in a very quiet, rural setting a few kilometers outside the villiage of Stanley. The accommodation is a nice blend of historic character and modern comforts. We were in the telegraph room which, for two people is massive; with a bedroom, large ensuite with spa, sunroom with woodstove, and kitchen... More

Stayed for 2 nights in December. Stayed in the Technicians Cottage and it was amazing. The first thing I noticed was the old switchboard as you enter the cottage. Really brought back memories of my first job (showing my age!). The cottage had everything we could have wanted and was very cozy. As for the restaurant - you just have... More
