Upon arriving at the motel...we noticed the two story unit was literally falling off the cliff and unoccupiable. We met with the owner to see the room that my wife had booked for my 49th birthday...he almost refused to show us the room unless we filled out and signed the registration and credit card acceptance form...of course we refused until... From the outside the place looks very rundown~once we saw the room (the Lighthouse) we booked it right away! The room was super clean, had all the amenities we needed, and a view to die for! The deck was rustic and sloped but we still loved it. The manager (Derek?) was excellent~very helpful and friendly. It looks like they are... More

Decent rooms in terms of cleanliness, but the management is more than discourteous, exterior is beyond decrepit, and the experience (have stayed there twice...tried to give it a second chance) was wholly unsatisfacory. Newport deserves infinitely better than this and offers it up everywhere else at comparable prices.

I have stayed in many places along the coast. Even lived here for about 5 years. Love the quiet area that the Driftwood resides in. The manager was so nice. Left goodies on the table since it was our anniversary. The view is soooo spectacular. Staying again this week. Only wish we could get away from the hum drum more... More

Ok, so this was a fairly shabby hotel. We stayed in the room called Seabreeze #1. PROS: 1. They chose cute names for the rooms. 2. The shower head was good (the nice strong kind) 3. It's a usable place. 4. The guy in charge is pretty nice. 5. They have a pretty good selection of DVDs in the office,... More

If you are looking for first class this probably isn't the place, but if you want to get away, be left alone, have an incredible view of the Pacific and be close to the ammenities nearby this is the ticket. Yes, those stairs to the beach are an adventure, and the furniture isn't the newest, but it is so gorgeous!... More

Thankfully I decided to check this wonderful place out for myself. The other reviews gave it such a bad rep. I find it sad when people exaggerate just because they dont get what they want or expect!! Especially the one about the spindrift room. That is the room we chose to stay in for 3 nights. First off the staff... More

For our 20th Anniversary, we thought we would try this place and selected the Spindrift, a so called "Private Cabin". It looks like a converted shed when you get there. The old wooden steps leading down to it are scary. We opened the door and were hit with some kind of chemical cleaning smell that we couldn't air out for... More

We stayed in the Seabreeze II room for two nights. The view was lovely and the room was comfortable. The weather had changed and it was cool and rainy which we didn't mind. What we did mind was the fact that there was no hot water for showers the first morning! We told the friendly staff person and she reported... More

Avoid this place at all costs! It is a DUMP and way overpriced!!! They even had the NERVE to charge my credit card unauthorized charges after I left! What a racket. The place is disgusting, dirty, and falling apart. The "nature trail" they advertise to the beach is so hazardous that the stairs are falling apart. AND...the deck in the... More
