What a great place to spend a few spring days! The craftsmanship of the lodge is really something that shouldn't be missed. As a WPA project during the Depression, the lodge was built in less than two years and FDR came for the grand opening. The attention to detail from the wood carvings to the iron fittings and handles in... More

We stayed one night in a queen room. The windows opened right out onto the snow and trees. There was huge snowstorm and complete whiteout, but if the weather had been good, we would have had a view straight up the mountain. The room was very cosy (although the heating took a little while to warm up). The bed was... More

Having just seen 'The Shining' and 'Room 237' when my Kubrick fan son came to stay we took him to Timberline. The hotel was built in quick time during the Great Depression using locally available materials and is a masterpiece of vernacular architecture with many artisan designed details; well worth taking a camera for some inside shots as well as... My husband and I stayed here for three nights. The inside of the lodge was historic, beautiful and relaxing. The service was fantastic. The rooms are a bit small, but clean. We stayed in a queen room with a ski & stay package for two nights. The third night we stayed in a chalet room---a bunk room on the first... More

We have gone there for a few years now, both for the old-time atmosphere of the lodge and the skiing. The personnel at the lodge were almost uanimously always helpful and seemed to be happy with their jobs and appreciative of the people using their facilities. The construction of the lodge never ceases to amaze us. You will probably never... More

My husband and I stayed in this beautiful, picturesque lodge last fall. It's like sleeping in an art musuem. We loved the iron work, hand made furniture, wood carvings, and massive fireplace in the main lobby. The scenery outside is amazing with a view of snowcapped Mt. Hood out of our bedroom window. We have already made reservations to stay... More

We love staying at the lodge when we go to Mt Hood. Spring mid-week was perfect condition for our two kids to get their first skiing experiences. We got a great deal on lift tickets by staying at the lodge, too. The rooms can be a bit small and are designed with an older sensibility in mind. They are rustic... More

Built during the dark days of the Great Depression, this magnificent and massive wood beam lodge offers an eagle's nest view of Mt. Hood, snow-capped year round. Known by many as the setting for "The Shining" as envisioned by Stanley Kubrick (although The Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, CO was the inspiration for Stephen King, the author of the novel),... More

We stayed at the historic lodge for two nights with two of our grandsons. It was their first time skiing and they took full-day lessons two days. The lodge was very comfortable (although the rooms were much warmer than we have at home) and the staff was excellent. The window in our second floor room was mostly covered by snow... More

Fire place room in the grand old lodge was amazing. Everything was great exept one thing. The dinner prices in the dining room are just simply OUTRAGEOUS. Watched one dad with his kids look at the menu and walk out. Food was good, but in no way commanded a $42 for salmon or a 6oz steak. A buffalo hamburger was... More
