First visit since the new landlady took over in March, used to be regular visitors (we live at Mullion Cove), when Angela was the owner. It used to be a slightly limited menu, which is now expanded somewhat. I selected garlic bread as a starter rather than a side dish, and my wife the celery and Stilton soup. The garlic... More

We arrived fairly late but were shown to the family room at the back. Food orders came quite quickly and were cheerfully served. The food was good and the children liked theirs. The menu had a good range to offer for both mains, snacks and desserts. We weren't hurried. There were some pens and puzzles for the children but some... More

We visit this part of Cornwall regularly at make it our treat to call in at the Halzephron Inn where, in times gone past, it was a little gem. Good food, sometimes lucky to get booked in etc. How disappointing it was to call in last week. The spark has gone, the clientelle has changed (either hippies or young farmers),... More

We stopped off here after reading various good reviews and found a welcoming and well decorated pub with a good child friendly room at the back with games, etc to keep them occupied whilst waiting for the food (which wasn't long). The menu looked varied and exciting and the food should have been, but somehow wasn't. All the ingredients were... More

Have been visiting for many years as we usually stay directly opposite and the food has always been really good with great service. Highly recommended. Great all year round - views are spectacular from here so even better in the summer.

For the past 10 years we have spent Easter at The Helzephron, returning year on year because of the all round quality we experienced as paying guests. We heard before hand that it had changed hands, but because we love the area and the Helzephron we decided to go ahead with our Easter break at the "Hal." When we arrived... More

The food was fine and the pub was clean - it was missing something though .... that extra touch that probably was always there when the previous owner kept a beady eye on everything. we just felt that it had dropped a few levels. The owner either needed to be present or make their mark - neither happened when we... More

Visited the inn for drinks and food whilst staying in a nearby cottage. A traditional cosy pub, warmed through open fires. We found the service really good and food delicious - including the fish and chips which were were some of the best we have tasted in a long while. The new owners are lovely, and even allowed us to... More

We returned to Gunwalloe to find it was under new management. Welcome was warm, menu inviting and the chowder great. But the fish and chips were disappointing- chips should be crispy not soggy. Service was excellent- we hope the cooking will catch up.
