Stayed here 3 months ago, it was comfortable but a little worn then, but we came back Yesterday regardless as the atmosphere is to die for, and were so surprised to see the rooms (5) that we stayed in last time were all modernised, new carpet, paint, heaters and convieniences. It is such an old pub, you really CAN NOT... More

I've stayed at the George IV twice now over the last few months with a group of friends, and plan to do so again. The vibe is lively, the brews are excellent, and the staff friendly and helpful. We were well looked after. The rooms have been recently renovated, and are clean, no frills basic, excellent value. The food is... More

Menu read "Chicken Schnitzel Free Range Chicken Breast w Rosemary and Parmesan Crumb, shaved Fennel and Roquette Salad" Sounds great right? In reality it was a very plain frozen schnitzel that wasn't even as good as ones from Coles. The shoe sting chips were also pretty average. Nice venue for a weekend lunch but the food was terrible. The last time this place was renovated was when it was built in the 1800's. We ate food here and two of the party got the runs afterwards. It truly is a shame what the owners have (not) done to this place. It truly is a dump. Popular with bikers it seems the place is about as clean as a... More

Staff were unfriendly, unhelpful and at times rude. We travelled with a large group having booked a private function. There was no cooling or even fans available in any room not even the dinning room. It was stifling so much so a number of people couldn’t be bothered to eat their meals, which were average. The rooms were poor to... More

We looked at the website for this place and it all looked good. A micro brewery, in house restaurant and heritage building. What we got was totally different. We are seasoned travelers and have an 11 year old very flexible child. We were traveling with an adult couple, friends of ours who were skydiving with us nearby. We envisaged a... More

The people at the George are very friendly; the food served from Thursday to Saturday is fantastic and cheap! the rooms are a little ancient but that adds to the atmosphere of this haunted pub. Highlight is the beer made on the premises, the low points is a walk to the shared bathrooms (outside) and the strange squeaking every 15... More

The King George IV Inn in Picton, NSW is a friendly, historic Inn known for 1) brewing their own beer and 2) being haunted (as per the local historian). I don't know about the ghosts - I did hear the owner (as per the Syd Morning Herald reviewer) getting up to take a leak (he lived in the room above).... More

Picton is a small place outside Sydney and the only pub for me is THE KING GEORGE with friendly people and GOOD BEER, many bikers call there for a meal or just a drink and it is nice just to talk to them and look at the many different bikes they ride, the meals are great oh and did i... More
