We were completely blown away by Avonlea. This B & B is located on the most scenic corner of Block Island with ridiculous 360 views of ocean and rocky hills. The staff is epic. Meg and Cassandra have amazing energy, were professional, witty and well versed on Island activities. Already planning our next trip...

The Avonlea is the most beautiful place to stay on the Island. Close enough to walk to most fun places, it is still removed to give an island get-away feel. I cannot say enough about how amazing Ann and her staff are. I have stayed here with my fiancee and also as a mom's get-away weekend. Both the Avonlea and... More

We stayed at the Avonlea but the Blue dory Keeps coming up. Oh well. I have stayed at both. This will be the second time I've stayed at the Avonlea and I will come back every year if I physically can. From the room (I recomment the Moonstone) to the hostess/innkeeper. The view out over the ocean was breathtaking and... More

We have now stayed in a few places on Block Island. My conclusion is that there are really no luxury, or even high end, hotels on BI. I think the only way to get very good quality accommodations is to rent a home (which usually means a week stay booked quite far in advance). And there, too, I would be... More

This was an excellent experience. Very friendly staff / owners. We weren't expecting much except relaxation - we got a ton of that and then some! Everybody was so friendly and pleasant that I will be returning as often as possible, and it'll be the only spot on the island that I'd stay from now on. Breakfast was great, accommodations... More

We stayed in the Emerald room at Avonlea on Saturday November 24-th and yes, the view was great! Although highly ranked we had seen quite some negative comments and we can only confirm:upon arrival (we should have been told before) we learnt that breakfast would be served at another location, the Blue Dory, because of a lack of customers at... I struggled with whether to just write the innkeepers about our recent stay or post to tripadvisor and decided to go this route because I believe my review might keep others from having a similar experience. First of all, the reviews I read prior to making our reservations a couple months ago led me to believe this B&B would make... More

First of all we are SO SORRY for this experience. It is embarrassing and inexcusable. All of your complaints are 100% our fault, but we also feel that they are mostly due to a unique transitional staff situation that has not happened before and will not happen again. Because of this, we would love another opportunity to make your Top... More

There is nothing better than a front porch on the sea. Driving around the island this place does indeed seem to have the best view and direct access to the beach. Staying in late October had the privilege of being quiet and peaceful with few tourists. Christy and Becca were able to accommodate my dietary needs for breakfast and provided... More

The Avonlea on Block Island is as magical a get-away as I can imagine this close to the busyness of the Northeast corridor. The Inn is cozy, clean and quaint and the people coming and going are as friendly and interesting as the innkeepers, Leda, Becca, Christy and Ann. We love the wine and snack hour and the breakfast is... More

This was the worst vacation my husband I have ever taken. We were so looking forward to a romantic getaway. Our room was cramped and no place to put anything, not even a toothbrush. We stayed in The Diamond Room which ended up being right off the livingroom, where everyone gathered for meals. We had access to the porch from... More

Dear Patricia and Pat, We are very sorry to hear about your disappointment with your October vacation. Block Island is a unique destination, particularly off season, and it might not be for everyone. Regardless of our ability to accommodate online reservations, this is why we highly recommend that you give us a call to ensure that we (and the Island!)... More
