What a find! This beautifully restored building is in the tiny town of De Smet within minutes of the Laura Ingalls Wilder houses. The owner was friendly and everything was immaculate. Our suite was perfect - large and beautifully furnished. More

The bathroom was immaculate! The whole suite was immaculate! Good water pressure. I have asthma, so I have a very sensitive nose and there were NO musty, old building smells at all and the rooms were NOT perfumed to cover odors. Most of all the beds were nice and firm not bumpy and soggy the bed smelt clean and crisp.... More

This historic bank building where the Ingalls family had accounts is a fabulous place to stay in the little town of De Smet, SD. It has been remodeled and decorated in the style appropriate to the era, and we just loved it. Perhaps the Ingalls family's savings were kept in the huge safe that is still visible on the ground... Incredible restoration project on the bank Caroline Ingalls was supposed to have held an account. It is an historical treasure lovingly rebuilt by the owners. The area is quiet, although centrally located. The rooms and home are beautifully appointed with historical pieces and photographs. The beds are comfortable and it feels like home. On a three week road trip, home... More

This is a really neat old building. We stayed in a beautiful suite with three rooms and a loft. It had cable TV, which my kids appreciated, and internet, which I appreciated, and a nice, big bathroom, where everyone could wash off the prairie dust. It was extremely hot in South Dakota when we were there, but the room stayed... More

We booked the South Dakota State Fair and could not find a room in Huron. We found the only room within 45 minutes of Huron. Kim and Carl's Heritage House in De Smet. It was perfect and so relaxing. They have a wonderful place and they are wonderful hosts. We will stay there every year we go to the fair.... More

We (mom and two kids) stayed in the Heritage House Bed and Breakfast as part of our visit to the Laura Ingalls Wilder sites in De Smet. We chose the Heritage House and were glad that we did. It is a beautifully restored former bank building. The rooms were comfortable, and immaculately clean. Do not let the fact that it... More

My mother, two daughters and myself stayed at Heritage House in July of 2006. It was truly a memorable experience as there were three generations of us - avid Laura Ingalls Wilder fans just ready to experience the history of De Smet. Nothing could have made our trip better than staying in our beautiful suite with the "loft" room. We... More

Our family of four stayed at the Heritage House Bed and Breakfast in De Smet for two nights in July 2006. It was the highlight of our entire trip to South Dakota. Our suite was wonderful, we had three rooms and a loft, all decorated with period furniture and accessories. Kim, the owner, was very nice and helpful and we... More
