Stayed in a duplex cabin Memrial Day weekend and while it's nice, it needs a lot of attention to detail. Our unit had a brand new kitchen, but when we used the microwave the first time, construction debris and sawdust flew out the fan vent. Our unit was missing kitchen utensils, including a dish drain rack, sharp knives (I know,... More

We were satisfied with our accommodations and especially the location in proximity of the main tourist stops, ie: Mt Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Custer State Park and not too long of a drive to Ellsworth Air Force Base and Wall Drug. It is off the road so traffic noise not a problem. Could have used a bit more light in our... More

We had a standard room on the first floor. Noise was not a problem, as you have to expect alittle noise at times. We were very pleased with the layout of the room. As you walk in the door you have a nice sized sink and counter. Across from that was the bathroom. Yes, the bathroom was abit small, but... More

It doesn't take a lot to please me, but electricity and a usable bed and couch are just things that I would have liked after paying so much for our Queen suite at the Lodge. The resort has a lot of great amenities for the kiddies, but the Lodge and restaurant really need a face lift! By the way, it... More

This hotel/lodge has a lot of activities for children and is very family friendly as it is associated with and/or located adjacent to the KOA campground. There is an OK resteraunt located on the grounds, and Hill City is only a few minutes away. I liked the location of Palmer Gulch with respect to the main attractions of the area... More

Overall the location is great, facilities okay but we were disappointed. However we did love the Chuckwagon dinner experience with real cowboys. We arrived mid afternoon for our 4 night stay and had to wait over thirty minutes for someone to help us. Then they just room my name, handed me a packet with two key badges. No time to... More

We spent a three day family get-together. (Three families - three rooms) over a weekend. The lodge is part of a KOA campground complex - those in the lodge enjoyed the same amenities as those in the campground - pools, water playground, entertainment programs. Rooms are clean, well-maintained and nicely taken care of. Staff is friendly and accomodating. The lodge... More

We stayed here before and booked during the Rally and the price was reasonable. The rooms are very clean, staff is very pleasant. This location is in the heart of the hills and a good central spot to vacation at. ATV rides, horseback riding, a decent "cafe" all and more right on site. More

When looking for a place in the center of things in the Black Hills of South Dakota, look no further than Palmer Gulch KOA. My wife (not a camper) and myself (camper) both enjoyed the upscale camping environment without the need to drag (and pay) for a camper. We stayed in the Lodge that had everything you would want complete... More

My family and I stayed at the Lodge and made use of the kid's activities. While the kids had a blast, we did not enjoy our rooms. They were dated and musty. They really need to make use of the slow season and do some renovations! The screen door to the balcony was torn letting bugs in, the bathroom was... More
