We had booked five nights here for mid July but as soon as we pulled up, I knew that we'd need at least one more night [they could accomodate that]. With so much to do at the campsite, I knew our boys wouldn't want to leave! We got an RV site close to the washrooms and the kiddie areas. They... More

Immediately on entering the Palmer Gulch KOA, we knew we were in for a treat. The office/general store was very large and had everything you could possibly need. They have a nice little old western themed town near the office. There was an excellent snack stand, a nice, clean laundromat, a specialty wine store, and horse stables. The amenities for... More

We stayed 6 nights and 5 days RV camping. There were four of us, me, my wife, daughter, and my mom. We camped up on the hillside away from the main camping area in the valley. Don't know what the shower area's were like, our RV has all of that stuff. This KOA was a base camp and didn't plan... More

Setting is nice in the mountains and quiet, but rooms are dated and shabby. The site is centrally located so that is a plus. TV is very poor. Priced way over what you actually get. Bedding is terrible with cheap foam pillows and paper thin blankets. The attached restaurant was good for breakfast and reasonable. If you are here with... More

We stayed one night in our 32 ft RV at the end of the summer and it was considered the best KOA from our kids (boys 9 and 11). The variety of free kids activities was great - inflatable 'bouncy houses', pool, mini waterslide, mini golf, bounce pillow, playground, etc - plus the facilities such as the pizza and restaurant... We stayed in a two room cabin too close to the RV dump! It was stinky by the RV dump! Besides that, the cabins are nice. Wish our cabin would have been somewhere else. It did not have any water and we knew that ahead of time. We did not spend much time there. The rooms were very clean. It... More

We tent camped with three kids under the age of 7 for for three nights at the Mt Rushmore KOA and had a great experience. This is not a back country camping experience, it's a busy campground with lots of activities and amenities and geared towards families. We stayed at site 300 non electric, it was large enough for two... More

One of the best KOAs we stayed at. Wonderful amenities. Great location to Crazy Horse/Rushmore. We took a shuttle to Rushmore for the lighting ceremony in the evening for $6/person, which was really nice. We camped and the sites were a little too close together. We had a family next to us and we heard the parents yelling at the... More

Let me start by saying that we have stayed at this KOA several times over the years. It has always been a blast, and offers a ton of things to do. You can go horseback riding, rent ATV's, play mini golf, volleyball, use the bouncy pillow, splash park and waterslide. You can also attend movie night, live music, take a... More

We camp every summer and generally prefer rustic state campgrounds. However, after spending several days traveling from the east coast I thought this would be a nice treat for the kids to be able to play in the pool and water slide. After one trip down the water slide we heard thunder and (as it should be) all the pools... More
