In '09 I was in Galway before picking up friends arriving to Dublin and I asked an older Irish gentleman on the street about the Aran Islands and he said, "Don't go to the Aran Islands. You should visit Inishbofin." I'm forever grateful as we did and it was amazing. It was the reason the same group returned to Ireland... More

We stayed at Murray's Doonmore Hotel on the June Bank Holiday weekend. It was our first experience of Bofin and so we didnt know what to expect. At the pier, we were met by the lovely Andrew who loaded our bags straight into the van before taking us to the hotel. We were greeted at reception by Aileen who was... More

Spent a most enjoyable June weekend in the Doonmore Hotel in 2012. Our bedrooms had a wonderful view overlooking the Atlantic and the location of the hotel is quite spectacular. The welcome from the Murray Family, general friendliness of the staff and food in the hotel was excellent. We also went on a trip by rib to Inishark and met... More

We stayed here over the May Bank Holiday w\end and were unable to get two nights in either hotel so stayed one night here and one in the Inisbofin House Hotel. While the House hotel was perfectly fine and I couldn't say anything negative about it, its the welcome and friendliness of Andrew and Aileen and all at the Doonmore... More

Everything feels right in the world as one rounds the curve of the road to glimpse the Doonmore Hotel ahead with Mrs. Murray's brightly potted pink geraniums in the conservatory , a welcome sight. Aileen and her family continue the tradition of good, Irish hospitality with comfortable accomodation, really good fresh seasonal food and wonderful music , and you never... More

I returned a week ago from my second stay at Murray's and I still can't get it, and the island, off my mind. Inishbofin is truly my happy place and Murray's is one of the main reasons for that. We found both Bofin and Murray's by accident 4 years ago and it was our main reason for returning to Ireland... More

We have stayed in the Doonmore a few times over the years and we will continue to go back. The staff are wonderful, nothing is too much trouble. The food is excellent, both in the hotel dining room and the adjoining bar. The rooms are spotless and bright, with all facilities. The added bonus is the wonderful music we enjoy... More

Murray’s hotel is one of my favorite places in Ireland. It is run by the extremely professional and welcoming Murray family and their staff. They have wonderful food, great music, and will do everything possible to make you feel at home. They annually welcome archaeologists, divers, musicians, and many other return visitors. The hotel is spotlessly clean, even with it... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Murrays' Doonmore Hotel was built in 1969 and has been owned and managed by the Murray family ever since. We pride ourselves on our hands on approach to customer service so you will be dealing with a member of the family at most stages of your stay. This is not a boutique hotel, so if that is what you seek then perhaps The Doonmore Hotel is not for you. Unless, that is, you are prepared to give us the opportunity to change your mind and show you the value of genuine hospitality and the personal touch of an owner managed hotel. We care about what we do because it is not just a job, it is our life. Our staff are superb also and they know that our raison d'etre is to ensure that every customer, from a child ordering a bag of crisps to a group of adults staying for a week, deserve only the best service possible. Our hotel and bar food is famous for its consistently high quality and value for money. The accommodation is clean, comfortable and warm even if a few rooms are slightly old fashioned. The atmosphere is welcoming, homely and relaxed. It is no accident that we have a large percentage of repeat business stretching back to the early days. The proof of the pudding is in the eating (and we bake all our own!) so come out and visit and experience Murrays' Doonmore Hotel for yourselves. Aileen & Andrew Murray ... more   less
