Suzy & Gabriel are the perfect hosts. Hotel is in the process of updating so should not be judged on the decor. Myself and several family members stayed 10/11th May all agreed would recommend to any who are travelling to Brixham and looking for a friendly place to stay. Big plus is carpark a luxury in Brixham. 10 min stroll... More

We have just returned from a lovely couple of days staying at the Shoalstone with new owners Gabriel and Suzy. We could not have been made more welcome. The room was really clean with fantastic sea views and the food was superb! We shall definately be returning later in the year. More

We were the guinea pigs for new owners, Suzy & Gabriel. Sue & Gordon came back for the morning however & helped out. Rest assured, all remains the same. Pretty sure things will change later in 2012 however, as suzy's parents are living in the adjoining house permanently. Suzy & Gabriel will therefore need a few rooms. First impressions are... More

Stayed here when we were going to a birthday party at the berry head hotel. This was a cheaper alternative. Whilst it wasn't awful it didn't feel that homely. When we arrived the place was cold. They didn't put the heating on until we arrived which seemed poor as there were already guests there. While the view from the bay... More

Stayed at this little hotel for a weekend and it was great - definitely will be staying there again. We've stayed at the Berry Head Hotel before but that was FIVE times the cost with terrible food. Sue & Gordon are truly lovely people and are so friendly - Sue's quite nice too!. I heard that its up for sale... More

This truly is Brixhams BEST KEPT SECRET, We only stayed at The Shoalstone for 1 night but it will stay with us forever, an amazingly friendly guest house, with panoramic stunning sea views, excellent hospitality, lovely comfortable bed, beautiful decor, lovely breakfast and very relaxing, Sue is very friendly and extremely helpful, nothing is too much for her. 10 minutes... Like other reviewers I'm amazed the Shoalstone doesn't feature higher in the rankings - think it's probably down to the fact that its hard to find on the web. It's got great views, it's spotlessly clean, and the owners friendly and happy to chat. The room we usually stay in is large with a couple of armchairs and a big... More

Surprised that the last review was in August 2009. Stayed in 2010 and last week and the comments from the only review are just as applicable now. Sue & Gordon still run a value for money business. The car park has enough spaces so that you can forget about the car if you wish. The breakfast is locally sourced and... More

We spent 4 nights at the Shoalstone last week with various members of our family whilst we were in Brixham for a wedding. Sue and Gordon could not have been more hospitable or accommodating. The hotel is relatively small with only 8 rooms but with most of the guests staying for the wedding there was a celebratory atmosphere. Our room... More
