Lovely Blackaton! Wild moors and warm Aga. Judy and David are wonderful hosts. Can't say better than that. We had a fantastic weekend with all the family and took our dog too. Go there for rambling rural charm, not knobs n' bells sophistication. Full of charm, books and comfy chairs.

During our family's Easter holiday trip to southeast England, One night staying in Lower Blackaton have been proved a wise choice and became the best part of the trip. David and Judy are best B&B hosts I ever met and sitting in the warm and comfortable room having chat with them was so pleasant. We all enjoyed the staying and... More

Lower Blackaton is the perfect accommodation. We are a group of 15 max, young people and staff who use the farm house as our base for kayaking the river Dart once a year. It is always a welcome to arrive in a homely place late on Friday night to discover a warm house. There is ample space for us all... More

From the moment we arrived at Lower Blackaton we knew we were going to have a wonderful time. Judy and David were welcoming, helpful and friendly, giving us brilliant instructions on how to make the most out of our time in their beautiful house. Our group of 15 were all comfortable and cosy despite the fact that the weather outside... More

This was the fifth time i have stayed at Lower Blackaton Farm and it never fails to delight, its packed full of character ( and first edition books in the fabulous library ) and original features yet manages to remain cosy and welcoming. Its also very useable with loads of room for 10 guests or more! We love the Aga... More

As part of a group of around 15 family and friends I stayed at Lower Blackaton for 4 nights over New Year. The weather was terrible, largely curtailing our plans to spend extended periods walking and rock climbing on the moors, however with a place as stunning as Lower Blackaton to come back to, all was not lost. The farmhouse... More

Stayed in Lower Blackaton with a group of 16 trainees from The Sammasati Project for a four-day workshop. Directions given were excellent, not one of the group got lost. The location is stunning and the accommodation really warm and cosy, despite us being there in November. Each room was full of character and had individual artefacts from all over the... More

Stayed at Lower Blackaton in mid May with a Chinese couple who are close friends of mine. A genuine ancient longhouse located in a beautiful setting on Dartmoor. The landlady and landlord were friendly and helpful from the moment we arrived. The bedrooms were full of character and were beautifully furnished in a homely old fashioned sort of way. The... More

Lower Blackaton is a lovely old Devon long house in a beautiful location just near the picturesque village of Widecombe. It has a pleasingly old-dashioned feel, and bedrooms are not en suite, so it may not be everyone's ideal. But David and Judy are excellent hosts with an expert knowledge of the area, the breakfast in a big kitchen with... More
