Booked this as a surprise break as R & R for my poorly wife. Couldn't have been better! Reception was welcoming. Room was traditionally English, we paid extra for a balcony room which was well worth the money - stunning views over the cove and we were able to leave the small fanlight window over the patio doors open overnight... IT's slightly quirky! You have to get the key to the indoor poor, and I'm not quite sure why, and it's a pity the outdoor pool wasn't open. There is a choice of the bistro or the restaurant but the restaurant location is brilliant and well worth the extra. Our room was a delight and spotless and the location is... More

We loved this hotel, all the staff were friendly and professional. We were in room 4 which had a great view over the cove. It was more expensive than we usually pay but it was a treat and we were not disappointed. The weather was not kind and we were supposed to sail to Lundy but looking at the weather... More

Decided to come here as an anniversary treat. The rooms on the website looked beautiful and we were not disappointed. We paid a little extra to get a room with a view and it was well worth it. Beautiful views. Beautiful room. We felt very posh for a night. Next time I will remember to pack trunks as the spa... More

From start to finish we found our weekend at the Watersmeet hotel absolutely perfect. The front of house service is polite and efficient. The swimming pool, steam room, and jacuzzi is lovely, and the overall standards and finish in then hotel is first class. The only issue we found was that the room we had had no windows, and was... Just stayed for two nights in early May on a last minute booking deal. Absolutely first class. Was very lucky as well with weather, and given room at rear of hotel with a window (expected sunpipe room with no window). Even though looked out at kitchen wall, was really nice to actually have a window to open, and would choose... More

This hotel has the most brilliant location, the views from the restaurant, as well as the rooms are truly wonderful. All the staff are extremely helpful and professional. This was our 3rd stay at The Watersmeet and will certainly not be the last.

We have just had a short break in this luxury hotel with The most beautiful view of the rugged Devon coast. The room was VERY COMFY and the staff on reception and in the restaurant were efficient and respectful. It was relaxing to use the indoor pool and just to sit and gaze on the sea. It is a lovely... Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The Watersmeet is one of Devon’s finest coastal hotels. It is situated above a quiet, sandy beach on the rugged North Atlantic coast between the timeless village of Mortehoe and the bustling resort of Woolacombe - with its three mile long, award-winning beach. All but three of the bedrooms offer spectacular sea views taking in Combesgate Beach, Lundy Island and Baggy Point. A number of the bedrooms have original wooden balconies where you can sit and watch magnificent sunsets. The seaward side of the hotel offers one long, uninterrupted panorama and whether you’re reading the paper in the lounge or dining in the restaurant you can enjoy the most wonderful views of the sea and rolling surf. The very best pocket sprung beds; thick, luxurious duvets; crisp white linen and superior memory foam pillows ensure a comfortable night’s sleep. The food is of a very high standard and much of the ingredients are sourced within the county - with venison coming from Exmoor and seafood from Brixham. Right on the hotel’s doorstep is one of the country’s best surfing beaches; a top links golf course and, of course, the South West Coastal Path. ... more   less
