I arrived on a motorbike on one of the wettest days of the year, dripping water, but the welcome from Evelyn was very warm and I was soon drinking tea and eating shortbread while my clothes were drying on the Aga. The room was lovely and an excellent breakfast.

Friends were staying there, and I inspected their accommodations and had breakfast there with them every morning. I have spent many nights in Dornoch, and this is the outstanding B&B there that I have seen or even heard of.
