I stayed here the night before running the loch ness marathon. First impressions were reasonable and the location in town was excellent. However, I was horrified to be woken at 1.30am by the sound of rustling and scurrying. I got out of bed to discover the energy bars I had been planning to eat during the marathon had been nibbled... I booked two rooms at the Nia Roo lodge last weekend; a double room for my husband and I and a single room for a friend. We were initially quite impressed- the room was clean and reasonable for one night. Unfortunately, things went rapidly downhill. My friend was kept awake all night by mice in her room, scurrying around and... More

Stayed here while undertaking wildlife surveys. Room was comfy with great hot shower .Had to be out at dawn for survey so missed breakfast, the host made us fresh sandwiches and pot of tea. Second day we had a fantastic breakfast, skipped lunch because we were still full. Very welcoming and great value. Would certainly stay here again.

When walking the Great Glen Way we stayed in Nia Roo, which is situated in the centre of Fort Augustus, just in walking distance to the town centre. We were warmly welcomed and given a lovely and comfy room. The breakfast the next day was good and enough to walk on till lunchtime.

Whilst walking the Great Glen we arrived in the quaint village of Fort Augustus only to be met with our bed and breakfast that reeked of cigarette smoke, needed a good spring clean and redecoration. To be honest we could not bring ourselves to stay there due to the over powering smell of smoke and the fact that one of... More

This should have been our 3rd B&B on our Great Glen Way trip but found it dirty and smelling strongly of cigarette smoke The whole place does need cleaning and redecorating The bedding was clean enough but we did not spend the night as the smell of smoke exacerbated my asthma

We drove into Nia Roo Lodge and were warmly welcomed by Fran. She gave us the "Harry Potter" room and the "sexy shower" room. Both rooms were very clean and comfy. The "sexy shower" room even had a king bed. For breakfast we all took the fresh fruit option. Fresh baked baguette and ham, and a large quantity of fruit... More

A warm welcome was recieved as we arrived during our Great Glen walk and a good breakfast the next morning but unfortunately we were dissapointed with the overall cleanliness of the B&B, the whole place needs a repaint, the window frames, especially in the dining room were very dirty [ next to our table] and the owner served breakfast in... We were very disappointed in this B&B. The room was in need of decoration and could have done without all the dust collectors in the room although the bed was comfy and sheets were clean. Didn't eat cooked breakfast but asked for the Danish pastry option with fresh fruit. Unfortunately my idea of Danish pastry differs from Fran's as I... More
