Recently stayed at the Victoria Hotel with a party of 17 for a six day break. The hotel is located close to the ferry terminal and is central for the facilities of the town. The reception staff were very welcoming and most helpful, with the dining room team and bar staff courteous, pleasant and efficient. Nothing was a trouble. The... More

Victorias has a good dining room with great views across Rothesay Bay. Our waitresses were polite and efficient and the food arrived in a timely manner. This was of a high standard, reasonably priced for the quality. We were not staying in the Hotel but all looked clean and well cared for.

Historic hotel with great sea and mountain views. Excellent location for the ferry, for exploring Rothesay, or for venturing around the island - Mount Stuart, for instance, is only a short drive away. Easy on-street parking nearby. Very comfortable and stylish room. Good food at breakfast and at dinner in the downstairs bistro. Friendly, helpful staff.

I have stayed at the hotel several times now while working on the island and it has been a really good experience each time. The rooms are spotless, the food good and the staff extremely helpful; always offering a cheerful smile and a friendly chat. Nothing was too much trouble. Only downside is that during the winter, the rooms were... More

I thoroughly enjoyed my four night stay in this hotel which I could not fault in anyway. The staff were courteous, very hard working and helpful. My bedroom was comfortable with the wee extra touches welcoming and appreciated. The food was excellent both in the upstairs restaurant and the ground floor bistro. I visit Bute two or three time a... More

This was my second year stay in the hotel. I found the hotel to be clean, the food to be excellent, staff very attentive and the owner took time to ask residents if everything was alright....nice touch. The bedroom and bathroom are nicely laid out and not cramped. The prices are moderate. The hotel is nicely placed for visiting the rest... More

The meal in the restaurant upstairs is delicious and the desserts to die for! For light meals or coffee and cake visit the bistro downstairs, where you can relax and enjoy nice music. The location of the hotel is very convenient and some rooms offer beautiful view. Beds are comfortable and you also get complimentary water and fruit bowl at... More

After an extensive tour of the islands, Victoria hotel was very disappointing. We found the tariff very high for such an average hotel. The only redeeming feature was the view. The walls in our room were paper-thin and the noise from other guests was not welcome. The Bathroom was very cramped, and beds with blankets and sheets not acceptable. The... More

This was our first trip to the Isle of Bute although I have been coming to Scotland for over 50 years. We had a few days to spare (sans enfants!) and it is not too far beyond the border plus a short hop over the firth. The snowy weather (end of March 2013) threatened to upset our plans but we... More

Thanks for your review. Unfortunately the cold spell lasted longer than we would have liked. Rooms awaiting arrival should have the heating on and if not, it is a mistake on our part. Your stay is important to us and we do encourage all guests to advise us at the time when something is wrong. I am not sure what... More
