We've stayed here many times and it is an idyllic place to stay, with beautiful views, its clean, warm, fascinating, with beautiful walks, local pubs and places to visit including the slate quarry and portmeirion. Michael & Nick were extremely accommodating! We also attended a wedding here which was absolutely brilliant, we can't wait to book our next trip.

Room - Miss Hilda Beautiful views of the welsh countryside and the Sea, Double Bed , Very Comfortable. The Drawing room is very cosy and even on cooler evenings in July the open fire was lit to make you feel at home . Fabulous place to read one of the many books lying around . and there are always a... More

Arrived late one evening in the pouring rain, after a three-hour drive. Greeted at the door and shown into a huge room, with equally large and comfortable bathroom (I'm 6'4" and really appreciated the roomy shower. The hotel is built on a rise overlooking the sea, in its own extensive grounds: just the place in which to escape the madding... More

My wife and I stayed here for a few nights in late May, and we were both very impressed by the quality of the accommodation and, in particular, by the friendliness of the hosts and their staff. The house itself is lovely, with fantastic views south across the estuary towards Harlech; our room, although one of the less expensive available,... More

The owners, Michael Bewick and Nick Golding make you feel completely at home in this country house set on a slight hill overlooking the magnificent North Wales countryside. You feel as though you are staying in a friends country house, where you're friends wait on you hand and foot, pure bliss. We filmed the hotel for Travelclicktv.com.

A note about Tan yr Allt's history. It was originally a farmhouse, built against the hillside with its front towards the hillside. It was bought in 1798/9 by William Alexander Madocks as part of an estate of land and farms, including most of the land in Tremadog and Porthmadog (neither of which then existed). He employed a local man John... More

Not a lot ot add to the comments that have gone before so I will just concur that our room, "Shelley's" was comfortable and delightful. The bathroom was both functional and attractive supplied with an abundance of soft fluffy towels and every amenity you could possibly need. Rooms were serviced to a high standard once a day .The gardens are... More

My wife and I have recently returned from our second visit to Plas Tan Yr Allt (or Tanny as it is known) this year. Do not go there if you like large plastic hotels with all the usual trappings. However, do go there if you want to experience fine, friendly service, excellent food all set in beautiful surroundings. A visit... More
