Had a great stay at Athelstane House. Well worth a visit. Had dinner which met our expectations and excellent wines by the glass. Breakfast delicious. Our host Richard made sure everything was perfect Very good value for money

quite a charming looking place fom the outside. Our room was plenty big enough for the two of us. Although, like someone else said, it was quite dark during the day. There was plenty of tea and coffee but no milk in the fridge. The fridge hadn't been cleaned after the previous occupants; who had left a container of ice... More

This place is an absolute gem. Situated just off the main street, it is a small hotel with a really special feel. The rooms are all ensuite and comfy. The small bar has a very good winelist and the coffee and food are very very good - the mushrooms on toast for breaky - wow. The owners and staff are... More

This accommodation is worthy of serious consideration, Staff are Excellent and the Manager is one of the best and will do anything for you. The rooms are not 5 star but very comfortable and the dining and outside areas are fantastic. Food is so fresh and tasty and service is superb. I will stay at Athelstane House again and again... While staying with family in Queenscliff over the New Year period, we were taken to Athelstane for breakfast which was superb - from the fabulous coffee to the breakfast itself (mushrooms in cream on sour dough, a must have!) while sitting outside on the deck, the service was great and most welcoming. We returned for an evening meal on two... More

Excellent value. No complaints. Meet with a friendly face on arrival and that set the standard. All staff were friendly and nothing seemed too much bother. Food was excellent. Room was clean and simple, nothing like a hotel room, which we appreciated.

With fond memories of a fun New Years Eve at Athelstane House, where as a large family group we were so well catered for with pre-dinner drinks and savoury platters, the two of us decided to return recently for a weekend stay. It was the perfect location for us in a beautiful tree-lined street, central to cafes and boutiques, beach... More

We visited Queenscliff for its touch of days gone by. Athelstane in one form or another is 100 years old but delightfully but discretely modernised . Check their web site for room options-we chose #6 at the rear with a little dedicated balcony. All guests can use the larger front balcony plus well stocked reading room. Staff extremely courteous. On a bright sunny day lunch on the verandah was appropriate. In the delightful town of Queenscliffe this guesthouse has a very nice lunch. We had not stayed there but called in for lunch with a party of 9. Menu was not extensive, but what was on offer was first class. The prawn Laksa was pronounced vert tasty, if a... More

My only complaint is we did not stay longer. The staff were very friendly and could not do enough to make our stay memorable. The manager even arranged for staff to come in early to cook our breakfast as we had an early start. The rooms were very comfortable and very clean. Lots of areas to sit and read the... More
