This is our sixth visit to Colonsay over a lifetime. How lucky we were with perfect weather. The hotel is just right.Friendly, relaxed and the food excellent. The very special local honey is used to make Colonsay honey ice cream. For £2.50 a scoop, nothing cold taste so wonderful! My husband was able to fish in the lovely lochs and we brought two trout home and... As a solo traveller, the hotel was perfect - welcoming and relaxing. The staff couldn't do enough for you and the food was excellent. My single room had a separate spacious bathroom along the hall which I prefer - I think ensuites are overrated. While I was on the island, the weather was beautiful - better than anywhere else in... We stayed in the hotel and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Irina was so delightful and helped me when I needed to get in touch with another family member urgently. I don't know what that person was talking about when she said that the food was over priced because we thought that it was excellent value and we enjoyed every... More

We loved this hotel, it was so romantic and so delightful. The views from our room were idyllic and it was such a wonderful place to explore a fascinating island. The sun shone and we walked in some of the most remote and beautiful scenery imaginable. We loved recovering after our long days in front of the log fire in... More

Delightful Stay The Colonsay Hotel had been recommended to us by friends who return each year and rave about it – and we were not disappointed. From the moment we arrived we were treated incredibly well and made to feel very welcome. The service is excellent, the food outstanding, and our bedroom was delightful. The décor is elegant and comfortable... More

What a delightful find The Colonsay is, the perfect base from which to explore and enjoy all that a very special island has to offer. The staff were relaxed but efficient and always eager to help with even the most unusual request. The food was well above the standard I was expecting from such a remote location, there was a... Lovely hotel on a beautiful island spoiled by poor food produced by a thoughtless chef. Avoid the steaks - premium price charged for tough and tasteless sirloin. If he only had frozen steaks then he should have cooked them differently. Coq au vin tasted as though chicken and sauce had been cooked separately. The main problem for hotel guests is... More

Colonsay is a beautiful island and the Colonsay Hotel is an excellent base to enjoy all that it has to offer. The hotel is spacious , very well maintained, comfortable and has an excellent staff who are both efficient and friendly. The evening meal was very good indeed but we found the continental breakfast somewhat meagre. Possibly the cooked breakfast was... More

We loved this hotel - it had all the right ingredients and considering the remoteness and how expensive it is to get supplies out there, they did well for us, meal wise (we stayed elsewhere). The Colonsay is well run and a surprise on a rocky island like Colonsay. The dining room is very smart and has a great log... More
