Many years ago, Rene, a school supervisor, bought a dilapidated chateau which he, along with his family, lovingly renovated. The result is a beautiful bed and breakfast which makes one feel as if they are staying in 19th century aristocratic splendor. But this is only part of the experience here. One of the major perks of staying here is consuming... More

We really enjoyed staying here with Renee's excellent hospitality and with the most delightful accommodation. Very worthwhile having dinner there as very tasty food provided. Would certainly return again. Well done Renee and family you have worked hard to provide a unique experience for your guests. More

We booked 5 nights here as a basis for exploring the area in and around Verdun. From the moment you arrive you are made to feel very welcome. Renee is a charming host and his invisible wife produces splendid dinners. We stayed in the end room (overlooking the garden), which has a terrace over the extension. An opportunity to enjoy... More

We stayed there for one night during our trip to Burgundy. The room in the Chateau was nice with a new bathroom and period furniture. The owner speaks German and Englisch, a former teacher and is full of stories. We had the half board and dinner in a stylish dining room was absolutely excellent. It was cooked by his wife,... More

My husband and I, both in our mid-seventies and long-term veteran travelers, have never experienced hospitality and attention such as we and our family received in our week-long stay at Chateau de Labessiere. To say that Madame Eichenauer was a consummate chef would be to understate her talents. We were six people, including our two sons, a daughter-in-law, and a... More

We found the Chateau on Trip Advisor as we needed a place around Verdun. We were en route to the Channel Tunnel from Alpbach in Austria. Rene the owner responded to our e-mail enquiry by return, which is a lot more than other possible stop-overs did. We chose to book rather than take a chance of finding somewhere as the... More

Located close to Verdun and many WW1 battlefield sites, the Chateau was a convenient location on a tour of the region. A quirky place to stay, spotlessy tidy with many fascinating books on the wars and the local area. Renee was an interesting character with a great range of cars and info on the redevelopment of the chateau over the... More

A lovely place to stay, full of character and charm and the food was superb. We spent two nights here whilst visiting the WWI battlefields and other historic sites during the day. We were made to feel very welcome and we really enjoyed our stay and would certainly return again. More

Initial welcome not helpful as our host was out. A family member was there , who rushed off to answer her mobile phone before calling her brother to help . We were shown our rooms but the intricacies of the workings of its ensuite shower went unexplained. On the taps here, however, blue was hot (eventually) & red cold. Also... More

After a few days staying at the Chateau, it was difficult to pull away from the excellent hospitality. I have never stayed anywhere that can compare to the service and genuine attention to every need. The room was unique and authentic. Large beds and an excellent bathroom created a very cozy feel. The food was fabulous. Dinner was a full... More
