Hurrah! I've stayed here a few times over the last 18 months, and whilst the rooms at the front were renovated prior to this, the rooms at the back have seemed tired and dated. Well it's all changed, I stayed in a room at the back and it was lovely, my only complaint would be that the water pressure was... More

We have been staying at Le Bretagne over a 30-year period and we have never been disappointed. If you are hoping for five-star luxury then forget it. Le Bretagne is a typical French hotel reasonably priced and with modest aspirations. The rooms are on the smallish side but fully equipped (except no tea and coffee making facilties for the cheaper... More

We stayed two nights 3rd & 4th December 2011 - room basic but comfortable. Separate loo & bathroom which was nice. Food in restauant good, and excellent buffet breakfast. Close to main part of town bars etc. Staff extremely friendly & helpful, would definitely stay again. More

This hotel is great for a stopover en route to Calais. We have been using it for over three years for our "christmas booze cruise". We travel over by Eurotunnel then make our way to St Omer. We check in (always ask for the refurbished bedrooms upstairs, they are much better). The town is good for Christmas shopping in the... More

This hotel is well placed for an overnight stop on the way back to Calais as St Omer is a pleasant town with a good choice of restaurants. The Bretagne is located within walking distance of the centre and has good free parking. The hotel itself has bgeen renovated within the last 2 years and was clean with comfortable beds.... More

We use this hotel as a stopping off point as it is only 25 miles from Calais. It is comfortable and priced reasonably with on site parking. Only five minutes walk from St Omer centre where there are numerous bars and places to eat. The staff are freindly and helpful especially when I struggle with my French. We have stayed... More

Looks lovely from the outside and plenty of parking. The chambre superior was a different matter. Decorated in shades of maroon in 1966, the only sign of recent redecoration was the giant print of San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge. The room smelt of smokers, the bathroom was old but clean. Internet available, but a faff to log on and invited... More

Apart from one, the staff were ignorant and very unfriendly even though I spoke French all the time. We reported a theft from one of the bedrooms we booked and were told the hotel were not responsible as the purse stolen was not locked in the safe! We were never told there was a safe. The purse was taken from... More

My husband and I spent Christmas in St Omer to visit some family. We thought we would support a local business, instead we are still hoping to understand how this hotel got their 3 stars. Anyways, here are a few points we'd like to bring up to anyone looking into staying in this hotel: - Cheap old mattress. Could see... More
