My husband and I stayed at Katy House for one night at the start of our (long!) honeymoon road trip. We loved our room and the porch/decking area was an added treat. In the morning we were delighted by an amazing home-cooked breakfast (those eggs! I won't forget them!) & freshly baked cookies, as well as great conversation. Highly recommended!

We picked the Katy House based on other reviews and were super happy with our choice. Check in was a breeze, our room was lovely and the rockers on the front porch were great to sit outside and read a book on a lazy afternoon (I even napped on the front porch swing). We did the walk through town to... More

I stayed recently at the Katy House for three nights. Bruce and Sallie are great conversationalists. Breakfast was very good and I enjoyed sitting and talking with them. I stayed in the Texas Room and it was very comfortable. I got a good night's sleep each night, the train never woke me up. Smithville is a very nice little town... More

We've stayed at the Katy House several times and always enjoy our stay. It is a beautiful house with all upstairs bedrooms. The steps upstairs are very friendly though and not difficult to climb. Sallie and Bruce are gracious hosts and we would recommend their B & B without reservation. I notice that several commented on the railroad noise, but... More

Our stay was short, but definitely sweet! Our room was comfortable. Yes, we did hear the train during the night and the fire siren went off in the morning (which you could probably hear in a 5 mile radius), but we were "warned" of the sounds so it wasn't a big deal. The house has a great history and Sallie... More

Sallie and Bruce makes you feel at home. Great time in the small town. I heard that the train but it was okay, breakfast was great and number one love the bake eggs, peppered bacon, grill toast everything was great. I would recomend this B&B tto my friend if coming to your area.

Sallie and Bruce know everything there is to know about Smithville, the little town east of Austin where the Katy House B&B is located. Smithville has been home to several movies (Hope Floats, Tree of Life to name a couple) and more recently, Willie Nelson was in town recording a video with his son. Sallie is in this one, "as... My boyfriend and I stayed there in December of 2011. We had a wonderful time staying in the room behind the main house. We love trains and collect the memorabilia associated with trains as the owners. The memorabilia was fantastic. The owners were very nice and friendly. Breakfast was like a home meal with family and delicious. Would love the... More

Had a great one-night stay with my girlfriend. Really enjoyed it. Great hospitality and accommodations. Enjoyed Smithville and hiking in the state park. I did hear the train at night but it was not a big deal. I recommend this spot. Good price/value. Easy to get to. Fun get-away.

High points: Microfiber sheets on the bed are GREAT. I need some of these. Breakfast is very good, not great, albeit offered quite late at 9 a.m. with no other options. Buddy & Carter, the proprietor's dogs, are very cute. Low points: Pillows should be thrown out and replaced. They are just too hard if you have to put your... More
