We've been going up to Burlington a lot, and staying in various B&Bs. We stayed at Hartwell House two nights in a row, and wanted to stay a third. The house itself was cozy, clean, and quiet. Linda was a great host, very nice to talk to. Breakfast was great too- definitely one of the best poached eggs I've ever... More

I have stayed in at least 3 B&B’s in the Burlington area, looking for the combination of convenience to downtown, quiet and comfortable. Other places seemed to be intent on reminding me that I was in New England…a little too cute, too generically New England. Hartwell House (and Linda) does a wonderful job of accessibility, comfort, and quiet. Linda is... More

Basically all of the previous reviews are right on -- wherever you go, you pretty much get what you pay for. In the case of Hartwell House, the value is fantastic. Linda keeps a very clean, comfortable home that she shares hospitably with her guests. Yes, it's an old house that creaks, and the finishes are not modern, but if... More

We stayed in a very quaint room and we were quite comfortable. The bed was old and made some noise as might if you were staying with relatives; it did not bother us...all was very clean. We had a great first B&B experience. The price is great, the home is old and full of history which we loved, and Mrs.... More

Hard to review this one. The price is very good for the area, and the location is nice and quiet, in a residential area that's not too central but just a couple of minutes' drive away from the main attractions. Having said that, we had a few issues with the quality of the bed, and the fact that we were... More

My boyfriend and I spent the weekend at Hartwell House, and it was exactly what we were looking for. We are low-key people and staying with Linda was sort of like spending the weekend with a distant aunt. The accommodations aren't luxe or modern, but they're comfortable and homey. Breakfast included is a great deal, and there's a reason all... More

After reading other reviews I want to acknowledge/reply to some things that were said: Linda was a very gracious and hospital hostess. She does have now ONE dog, a a tiny one named Pepe. He does bark, but we never really heard him. She does make you breakfast whenever you decide to get up. Her poached eggs are awesome and... More

We really enjoyed staying with Linda at the Hartwell House. It was a warm day when we arrived and her backyard was a haven - beautifully landscaped with a lovely, refreshing pool. The guest room was perfect for us and the smaller room with twin beds was a treat for our eight year-old daughter. A breakfast of cereal, fresh fruit,... More

This was the first time I stayed in a bed and breakfast and it was a great experience. The hostess Linda was very friendly and really made us feel welcome. We stayed in the room with two twin beds, which is not very large, but large enough since you can also use the livingroom downstairs which has plenty of space.... More

The house is about 10 minutes drive from downtown, away from busy streets and highways,in a pretty quiet area. The main guest room is actually quite large and very nicely furnished. The others are a bit smaller but still spacious enough for a good night's rest. Linda is a great host, Poached eggs for breakfast, her specialty, are outstanding. Overall,... More
