Travelling for us means moving outside comfort zones. This B&B is different but we wanted to stay somewhere different. We stayed in one of three cabins set higher up the hill surrounded by trees and hiking trails. the cabin was clean with a new shower stall and a very effective wood burning heater. The bed was firm with good linen.... More

Vermont has many wonderful B&Bs. This isn't one of them. The owners of the Grunberg Haus are clearly burnt out, which is understandable considering how long they've run this B&B. They must also field a fair number of complaints from guests. The place was just plain dirty. The bedding was cringe-worthy. The bathroom was small, dark, and grungy. The fireplace... More

Not the Ritz...but not a dump..has some great charm to it. The fireplace is awesome, and that it makes all the difference when all you want to do after a long day on the slope is veg out. The rooms are a nice size..and yes there are no locks, but no matter....no worries things are safe. The shower is a... More

Linda and Jeff have rooms in the Inn and 3 spacious cabins. They immediately made us feel welcome. We stayed in an immaculate cabin for 4 days and loved it. A+ for cleanliness and comfort. We had wonderful breakfasts each day prepared by Linda with Jeff's assistance. Love that coffee and selection of fresh baked breads. They provide lots of... More

The property is tucked away up a hill and looks a little uninviting from the outside, inside the property is clearly lacking attention in some areas. The rooms are functional, However the bathroom appeared old and tired, the Chris Suite has a skylight which for some reason is boarded up. There is a certain rustic charm, but a lot of... More

If roustic is what you're looking for, this is the place to be. First, lets get rid of the simple things...NO- TV, RADIO, ALARM CLOCKS, CELL SIGNAL. Remember I said 'Roustic'. However, they do have free WiFi. Second, food is AWESOME (applesauce pancakes were my favorite). Great scenery... the owners were great and very knowledgable about the area. This B&B... More

We enjoyed our stay at the haus. The beds were pretty comfortable and the breakfast was tasty albeit clearly "budget" food (pancakes with fresh berries and Folgers-type coffee). Rooms were clean, service was friendly and there were many places where it was obvious that the hosts thought carefully about their guests. Floors were creaky which added to the charm, but... More

My Children and I ( ages 20 to 27 ) stayed at this bed and breakfast. We had never stayed in one before. It was so much nicer than a hotel chain. It was nice to have a home made breakfast ( that was great by the way ) instead of a bagel or donut like you usally get at... More

They accept pets in the cabins (not in the lodge), which are a bit of a hike up the trail. The cabin was nice and we especially enjoyed the wood stove. It was so peaceful because we were back in the woods, too cool to sit on the porch but took a nice hike on the property - absolutely beautiful... More

I note there is a huge variety of reviews here, some very negative. I suspect it's about what you are looking for. Yes, it is rustic, and perhaps more basic than some, and not cheap. However the setting and owners are delightful. We enjoyed our stay, albeit brief, and thoroughly enjoyed the covered bridges/waterfall tour the owner suggested. We enjoyed... More
