Don't be surprised if Thomas Jefferson stops by your room to ask if all is well. The 1804 Inn (vintage Jefferson) consists of a main building with three to-die-for suites (we prefer the Octagon Suite) plus other rooms in other historic buildings. The suites in the main building are midbogglingly large, well furnished and comfortable. The price for the night... More

We love visiting Barboursville Winery and have been visiting for a few years so when we heard that they had an Inn we had to go and stay, we were celebrating our Anniversary and we stayed in the Phileo Suite in the 1804 Inn and it was just amazing, lovely brick floors, beautiful antiques and bed linens very comfortable surroundings... We stayed in the moscato suite. It was gorgeous. We had a sitting room, kitchenette, the bedroom and bathroom were upstairs. We stayed the last weekend in February for my husbands birthday. We had two couples with us who stayed in their own separate suites. One of the couples asked for a red bottle of wine and got a white.... More

Spent a wonderful mid-January weekend in the Barbara cottage and found it beautifully rustic, comfortable and romantic. Both architecturally and texturally interesting: softly aged and worn marble tile floors, rough-hewn white washed wood beam ceiling, traces of stone foundation visible in the interior walls - all nicely restored and up-dated for comfort – creating an interesting juxtaposition between rough and... We spent our 7th anniversary Nov. 24th in the Phileo Suite of the 1804 Inn. It only has three rooms and the other two are upstairs so if stairs are a problem (for me) we needed to be on ground floor. This is a suite with a separate sitting room, separate bath and an enormous bedroom. Each room has been... More

One of the things I love about b&bs are the gourmet breakfasts. I was shocked after check-in. When being shown my room, I asked what time breakfast is. The grundgy attendant showed me the minifridge and said this cold food prepared the day before is what I'm getting for my $300 a night stay. It was stocked with all store... More

We stayed in the Vermentino Suite of Blue Run Cottage, a refurbished farmhouse (opened around June 2012) with 3 suites. It is a quick drive (or walk) along a dirt farm road past the 1804 Inn. The kitchen is replete! Breakfast plates, crackers, cheese, fruit, sweets, water, juice, milk, wine -- you name it, the hosts provide it. There is... More

After ordering a bottle of Barboursville Vineyard's premiere "Octagon" red wine at the Regency Dining Room at Colonial Williamsbug a few years ago and enjoying it, the sommelier suggested that we visit the Barboursville Winery to further investigate their offerings. We toured the ruins of the actual Octagon house that Thos. Jefferson designed for Governor Barbour and noticed that there... More

This is an absolutely beautiful setting. The suites in the Inn are all wonderful. You can wonder the grounds, visit the winery and the restaurant on site is delicious. The Inn keeper is great and left me a cheese and cracker plate to enjoy as a light dinner with a lovely bottle of wine. Breakfast is also very good, I... More

We stayed in the Phileo Suite of the inn. It was a good bit more expensive than places we usually stay, but once we arrived I understood why. The suite was very spacious (much larger than you would guess by viewing the pictures online), with a generous-sized sitting room, bedroom, and full bath with separate additional pedastal sink. The rooms... More
