We stayed with a small group at the Red Lantern Inn. It's a clean, cozy, welcoming place and the owner, Jo Ann Gideons, and her assistant Esther, couldn't have been more helpful. We will definitely be coming back! Clifton Forge is an attractive small town with good food and an interesting history, very walkable.

The Red Lantern Inn has been nicely remodeled while retaining many of its historic elements. The updates are more apparent in person than on the website. Jo Ann is great company and makes the stay even more enjoyable. Would definitely return to the Red Lantern Inn.

I stayed four nights at the Red Lantern while I was in Clifton Forge, giving music workshops, and playing a concert. The Inn more than exceeded my expectations....It was like staying at a friend's house. It is very comfortable, completely updated to feel like a modern house in terms of luxuries, yet furnished with nice antiques to give a historic... More

What a lovely inn rich in history! We felt welcome immediately at this charming inn. The owner was very gracious and hospitable, giving us a brief tour before getting settled in. The furnishings were extra comfy, the snacks were delightful. The bed was theist comfortable bed I've ever slept in. Excellent restaurant recommendations, some within walking distance. First class, very... More

We had many people stay at the Red Lantern for a recent wedding and even the bridal party decided to stay on the eve of the wedding because it's so nice! We enjoyed having a large social area to relax and prepare for the wedding. Our guests enjoyed mingling over coffee and muffins. We were able to do laundry, make... More

We got in Clifton Forge at around 8pm, and two other guests let us in. We grabbed our key to the room and settled in. The Inn was beautifully decorated, very clean, and to my surprise, a lot of goodies for the guests in the kitchen. We went on the hike next morning at the Douthat State Park, came back,... More

Convenient to anything in Clifton Forge, this is a comfortable place and a good value. The rooms are fairly spacious and the beds comfortable. It's not far from the railroad but that isn't a problem (and besides, nothing in Clifton Forge is far from the railroad). The internet works well and is free. There's a serve-yourself continental breakfast in the... More

My husband and I just spent one night here. The rooms were clean and the snacks and breakfast offerings were perfect! The bathrooms were very large and wonderfully stocked! If you are ever in this area, you have to stay here! Woof-woof-woof.......even our dog, MacGregor loved it here!
