Exotic locale off the beaten path, but close to Lexington. Small room, felt confining. Hard mattress. Porch did not have access to outside. There's a short walk to the top of hill with great views (that's the best thing about the place). Nice pool with gazebo. Breakfast was good (fresh juice, coffee, waffles, sausage, small fruit cup). We enjoyed it... More

No, not what you think. This tranquil and beautiful B&B on the outskirts of Lexington, Virginia is anything but chaotic. Happy and Chaos are two of a group of llamas owned and operated by the Innkeepers Chris and Linda, and my wife and I had the privilege of trekking them (the llamas, not Chris and Linda) through the nearby woods... My wife and I just spent two wonderful days and nights here and I can't say enough good things about the place. The Shenandoah Valley is beautiful this time of year and the Inn is set on a large private property that gives you a real feeling of peaceful isolation, even though the town of Lexington is only about 10... Between the gracious hosts, wonderful location, comfortable amenities, massive property to explore and hike, great breakfasts, and pet-friendly with stunning views, what more could anyone want for a getaway in the Virginia mountains? With a jacuzzi and a gas fireplace, as well as a sitting area and an extremely comfortable mattress, the Blue Ridge Room was roomy and perfectly sized... More

Everything here was perfect and we've been back twice and will go again. Chris and Linda are great to chat with, breakfast is always delicious, we love the decor of the rooms and also the homey common room. It's always been very clean. The rooms are each very private and delightful, with more amenities (like hot tub or jacuzzi) than... More

Me, my wife, and our dog stayed here for a couple nights and were welcomed by Chris and Lynn who made their home ours. We stayed in the European room which opens onto a private porch and hot tub, and also onto a garden patio. The room was smallish, quaint and comfortable - and fairly quiet, although you'll have no... My husband and I enjoyed a getaway weekend at the Applewood Inn. Our hosts, Linda and Chris, were warm and welcoming and the food was yummy! There are so many beautiful, quiet spots to just sit and relax, whether at poolside with a glass of wine or on a shady porch with a good book. We trekked with the llamas... More

My husband and I stayed at the inn for three nights. We found our accommodations very clean and everything we were looking for. The innkeepers Chris and Linda were a delightful couple and were very knowledgable about the area. I must say the breakfasts in the morning were delicious and we enjoyed trying Linda's homemade jams. If you are looking... More

This was going to be our first stay at Appplewood. Chris was very polite when we arrived at Applewood. He showed us the grounds, which were a bit unkempt and overrun, and made a point to show us the house. The kitchen was a bit dirty. We were taken aback when Chris began to describe the pool situation. He said... More

This reviewer did not stay with us and was not charged for her last minute cancellation despite the fact that we indeed did turn two calls away that afternoon. Our dog was out on our property when they arrived, but I called him and he came to me without any problem. We are extremely conscientious about our dogs, perhaps too... More

This is a great getaway. The area is lovely and the llamas are wonderful to watch. Linda, one of the inn keepers, does beautiful water color paintings that are hung throughout the inn. The inn was very clean and the room we stayed in had a wonderful whirlpool tub. The grounds are well kept with many different plantings. If you... More
