We recently enjoyed a wonderful weekend at the Star Hotel, the hotel is very accommodating and comfortable, and staff were so helpful, friendly and eager to please. We'll definitely be back, the Star Hotel provided a great base to enjoy all the features of Walhalla, as well as lots of insight into the town. Great effort, lads!!

A totally new Australian experience for me - Walhalla is as if you were moving back into time, the perfect place to see what life in "gold rush" times would have been like. Set in stunning landscape, you really get to experience a different side to Australia, dense bushland and great forests, at my time of visit outstanding autumn colours.... More

I have travelled to Walhalla regularly since 1973 and until a few years ago tended to make these day trips. Over the last 5 years my wife and I make a regular weekend trip to Walhalla and stay at the Star. We have always enjoyed our stay and have always found the evening meals to be really good. Breakfast, is... More

I was gratefully put up in this hotel to recover from night shift and it was a lovely quiet place to rest and relax. The room was spacious, comfortable, clean and quiet. The lack of a TV in the room is a great idea to encourage visitors to explore the treasures nestled in Walhalla. The owners were very welcoming. This... More

Very pleased that we were able to provide a restful and relaxing environment for you during what was a rather testing time with bushfires in the area. We hope to welcome you and the rest of your crew back under more normal circumstances when you can enjoy all the experiences that Walhalla has to offer. We were very pleased to... More

Comfortable hotel with scenery plus the additions of all modern comforts. I liked the fact that there is no TV or mobile reception as this allowed you to really unwind. It was a great choice for resting after a days worth of hiking nearby. Be sure to book early as there are only a small number of rooms.

Although recently built (1999), the hotel is constructed in the style of the earlier Star Hotel on this site, in the centre of a 150 year old mining town, which has been restored as a tourist attraction. The town is set at the bottom of a steep sided valley and once all the day visitor have left the only noise... More

My husband and I recently stayed at the Star for one night. We rode up on our motor bike from the Mornington Peninsula which is a great ride. Michael the owner allowed us to lock the bike in the yard for night (not that any harm would come to it in Walhalla). On check in we were given a run... More

Thank you for your review. I'm sorry that you did not enjoy your stay at the Star Hotel and when you return to Walhalla I will be most delighted to have you stay at another Bed & Breakfast, cottage or campsite.
