I booked at last minute on Wotif having felt a little overwhelmed by the amount of choice in the area. I am so glad that I did. The property is beautiful, french feel with lavender, roses and established trees and olives, in the middle of the vineyards surrounding it. There is a lovely courtyard that the rooms look onto, it... More

This was one place that sadly disappointed us during our recent holiday in New Zealand. There are lovely buildings in a stunning setting and our room overlooked the adjoining vineyard. The room itself was huge and very well appointed (though lack of a fridge was a pity) and Denise was welcoming, so the bones of a great stay should have... More

From the moment we pulled in to the Aylstone we were impressed with the pretty buildings and manicured gardens. Owners/hosts Bruce and Denise were just amazing and made the trip all the more special with their great activity recommendations and ever so helpful service. Always there with a smile-we even looked forward to the charming breakfast we enjoyed each day.... More

Everything about our stay was perfect - Bruce and Denise were amazing hosts, and provided great options for our visit to the Martinborough area. Our room was beautiful, as was the vineyard view from our room. Recommend this highly for anyone who plans to visit.

We were in Martinborough to visit the awesome fair they have a few times a year and having stayed in self-catering options previously decided to go for an upmarket B&B this time. Aylstone definitely lives up to it's name. The hosts, Bruce and Denise, are lovely, and happy to chat about options in the area for activities and meals -... More

We just spend one night in the Aylstone Boutique Retreat, just so nice. Gorgeous room with attention to the smallest details with vineyard view. Nice simple breakfast in the morning with excellent coffee. The only small negative was that the WIFI did not work in the room, but we were told of that in advance. Our only regret was that... More

our room was gorgeous, and the location was perfect. The staff were amazing from start to finish - they gave us great recommendations for local wineries and restaurants, and were friendly and professional the entire time. More importantly, when our rental car broke down as we were preparing to leave, Bruce kindly offered to drive the 3 hour round trip... More

Denise and Bruce were wonderful hosts. Everything was perfect. They take pride in their property which was evident the moment we arrived. Our room (No 4) was immaculate, beautifully decorated and had a lovely outlook over the gardens and courtyard. Our stay with them over two nights set the scene for a wonderful trip around the North Island. Highly recommended!... More

A friend and I spent two restful days at Aylestone in January and what a retreat it was! From the minute we arrived, Denise was a gracious host who met our every need and made our stay a very relaxing one. She offered us helpful information such as lunch at Poppies, a recently opened place a few minutes along the... More

We stayed two nights in late December. The hosts, Denise and her husband were very friendly and helpful, giving us all the information we needed about wineries and restaurants. The room was immaculate, with a private verandah overlooking the vineyard next door. The grounds are fantastic, with a great breakfast room and common room where you sit down and relax... More
