If you area looking for a place to go trail riding not so far away from DC this is the place. Took a half day trail ride with a guide and enjoyed it greatly. Our guide was great, got to go in all kinds of terrain and enjoy amazing view. Located in Syria, Virginia, it's an easy 1.5 hour drive... More

My recommendation is for staying at the Hilltop Lodge. Expansive, sweeping views of the Blue Ridge, including part of Old Rag. Fabulous porch- open the room door and let the fresh breezes in. Beds are new and firm- great for my back. Rooms are VERY clean with good tv and wireless internet. Is it fancy? No, but it's a great... More

Look, folks, this is a beautiful location, but until they can get the stinkbug and ladybug situation under some degree of control, the owners should not try to rent any more rooms. My wife and I just got back from the Valentine's Day special, and we were up all night in the Poplar Lodge where we killed over 100 bugs.... More

The location is beautiful, we have been going for several years now. This year, the rooms seemed very moldy smelling and the stink bug infestation was very uncomfortable. They did warn us of the stink bugs, but one of our family members stayed up all night killing stink bugs in their room, even in the bed! My room had visible... More

We headed to Graves Mountain over the Labor Day week end for a day and night of relaxation and food. An overnight stay at Graves Mountain includes three meals… and all served “family“ style. I love going to GM and have visited many times over the past 20 years. I especially enjoy the fireworks during the annual Fourth of July... More

If you are looking for relaxation, this is the place to go. It is nestled in the mountains. Very rustic. The food is absolutely great. I felt like I was eating like on a cruise ship only the food was great hometown country cooking. The staff was very friendly and the owners even sat at the table with us one... More

I have been going to Graves for 4 years now for a working conference. The rooms are always clean and neat, the staff always accommodating, and the food characteristic Low Country fare - lots of veggies, and basic dishes such as meatloaf, fried chicken, and roast beef for dinner and lovely salads for lunch. Meals are served family style and... More

Want to travel back in time? Visit the Graves Mountain Lodge. This is a great place to get away from it all! No cell phone service, no TV, and only one phone in the lodge. This place would be a great family getaway and a safe place for kids. The food was great, physical activities abound, and the food...lots of... More

Graves Mountain Lodge has much history, having been in business for over a century, but it is now very, very tired. Saying it is rustic is being kind. Come for the history and setting, but be forewarned.

The location is fabulous but don't expect deluxe accommodations or modern food. Our room in one of the motel units up the hill had good, firm beds but it smelled musty, had no phone or TV, and had a fair number of bugs, including a cricket that chirped in the bathroom much of the night. The food was heavy, mostly... More
