My wife and I (Bonvoy Platinum) checked into the Cavalier for a one night stay. This has been one of the most amazing stays we have ever head. I applied a Suite Upgrade award and redeemed this stay using my annual Bonvoy Brilliant Certificate. A redemption certainly worth more than $700.00! The valet up to the front desk staff certainly took care of us from check in to check out. We had an amazing experience dining at the Hunt Room and at Becca's for breakfast. All hospitality staff were very impressive and attentive. Certainly one of the best I have seen and I travel a lot. Kudos to Jessica, Sarah, and Mina for ensuring that our stay was unforgettable! I believe we were given one of the best views of the Suites at the hotel (See pic below). We did have a mild hiccup during check out where they didn't credit the F&B credit ($40.00 value for me and my wife) for our breakfast but after a few days and repeated phone calls the managers decided to comp the entire breakfast!! Kudos to Brian and Carlatta for going above and beyond for our stay! I certainly wasn't expecting for them to do that. Now some bad parts: We wanted to check out the gift shop before departing but it was closed (Check out was on a Saturday) and it remained closed well into their operating hours. Certainly not what you would expect after everything else was awesome! The TV programming was also a bit dated compared to other Bonvoy properties, but hey if you are staying there to watch TV, then you are in the wrong hotel! We will be back! Thank you Cavalier!

Another great trip to the Cavalier; they never let us down. The room, food, drinks and customer service were great, as usual. Special shout out to Matthew for an outstanding wine tasting experience. Despite the huge operation, everyone was friendly and helpful...we even met the General Manger who then greeted us by name many times over the weekend. Great and relaxing experience. Thank you.

Such a wonderful historic hotel. This was our first time staying at the Cavalier. I wanted something special for Valentine's Day that would make great memories for us. And the Cavalier lived up to our expectations. The hotel is magnificent. Very detail oriented. Upon arrival, the valet is very courteous and professional. Which set the tone for our stay. A special mention to bellhop David. Who is very helpful and friendly, and gave us a lot of information about the hotel and services. We were checked in by Nerisa. Very professional ,courteous and friendly. Definitely an asset to the hotel. Another special mention was our server Stephen, at the Becca restaurant. Very attentive, informative and polite. All staff members were very courteous and professional. The hotel is exceptionally clean and so are the grounds. The only downside to our stay was the availability of the pool. The pool area was reserved for two nights of our three night stay for special events. With no advanced signage of such. Communication is crucial. Observing families headed to the pool in robes and slippers, only to be turned away because of special events. Is not good for business. With TV channels designated to the hotel and electronic kiosks located throughout the hotel there's no reason these cannot be utilized for such information.

Most beautiful room ever. Exquisite art and decor. Wonderful and pleasing staff. Dined at Beccas for lunch and the Benedictine eggs were fantastic. Our server, Jeremy, delivered excellent service and made us feel like royalty. The prestige of the hotel and the class of our fellow guests made this stay amazing. We call Virginia Beach our home and relish the idea that we can be tourists in out town and not need to travel far and away to experience the BEST world class hotel in North America.

The hotel is very interesting with all its history. We went to the hotel to relax unfortunately that was not to be. The Raleigh room was beautifully decorated but it was loud and a pick up joint. We went to the pool, hot tub which is also gorgeous room. Unfortunately the hotel has an agreement with the homes surrounding it for their use of amenities. There were 2 families with 5 little boys running around and jumping from the hot tub to the pool and vice versa. The Moms sat at the other end of the pool and chatted so all the other visitors were left to babysit and keep an eye out so they did not drown. The staff did nothing. I always thought users had to be 16 to be in the hot tub? We went to the Becca restaurant and had a very bad experience with an older man at a table across from our table by window that had shutters which were open . This terrible man came over and closed the shutters. Now I had a view of a white wall. I opened the shutters which layed flat in the window ledge perfectly. The man came back to close it and said to me, come over here and I'll teach you a lesson. Really! I asked him to leave it open. My girlfriend and I were shocked. Then a manager and security came to our table and told us I hit his wife in the head.... So ridiculous and this couple obviously did not mind lying to get their way. Why they did not move, I don't know. They told us we had to pay and leave. Shocking! BTW, I'm 64 and my friend whose birthday it was turned 73. I retrospect I should have called the waitress first but I never thought this class less couple would lie and blow this all out of control. I am also a Marriott Gold member and my husband a Titanium member. We have traveled all around the world and never, never had such rude treatment. w I will never go to the Cavalier hotel again. Marriott needs to train their staff better. We really thought the hotel would be quiet and relaxing with good service but it was non of these. We did leave quietly and went to our room.

Wow. Don't know how to cover it all. And this is long overdue because I stayed there with my 78 year old mom from Dec 25-Jan1st. This place is exceptional. The hotel, the history of the many famous people that have stayed there, the restaurants, the food, the neighborhood it's in, the decor on every floor (I walked them all) but the staff. I'll just name some folks that I think are amazing at their job. If you're not named, it's because I forgot to write it down by the time I got to my room! I have to say that I was with my 78 year old mother that has water on the brain so she has balance issues. The staff was exceptionally aware and helpful. But my go-to girl was Jessita. I think every time she worked, I had to go to her and act like we misplaced our room key (it was my mom) and she made me a new one with no judgement. She took care of me just as well. Loved that she could make me laugh no matter what. And she had the BEST hair! Others: David, bellman has to be the busiest man in the hotel. He takes two carts of luggage up at a time." Bellman of the year in the US!" And always working! Sophia hostess at Becca, Mia and Joshua helped me print stuff for my nieces bridal shower the next day, Bobby red headed bartender from Becca, Met Tori for a afternoon cocktail super sweet girl, Trent Petersen "jazz hands", Keith, Ray and Tim, Ceara hostess, Megan at shop, Jared and Bobby bartender, Jeremy the waiter, Aicha waitress, Doorman/valet Thomas helped recreate the ghostly experience for my mom! But besides all of these lovely people, Kearra the girl who did rooms when my mom was sick in bed for 26 hours. She came in and changed the sheets and cleaned our room even though my mom was so sick (not covid!) And also Cameron Almond Junior or CJ! He helped me and my mom at Christmas, in the rain and anytime we got out of our families car to drop us off. Sweetheart. All of the locations in the hotel are one of a kind to visit between the restaurants, the distillery, the gym was great, the gift shop for unique items and the spa. You're crazy not to stay at least one night here. It's exceptional service, historic and unforgettable experience. Love you all at the Cavalier!!!

Just returned home from an amazing and wonderful Christmas weekend stay at the Cavalier Hotel (and resort). Three wonderful dinners at Becca (the featured restaurant), The Hunt Room (in front of a blazing fire in the large fireplace), and Orion's Roof (Asian Fusion restaurant with wonderful oceanfront view from the 23rd Floor of the adjacent Marriott). We had some concern that we wouldn't get enough holiday vibe with being away from family this year. No worries at all -- the hotel was thoroughly and beautifully decorated (inside and out), was alive with happy, friendly guests, and the staff was jolly and attentive. We spent a lot of time sitting in comfortable chairs in the Raleigh Room in front of the gas fireplace listening to live violin/cello music, watching families gather and little kids all dressed up for Christmas and Christmas Eve brunches/dinners, and just reading and chatting with people who sat in other chairs near the fireplace. Then took afternoon walks along the beach and boardwalk to work up an appetite for the next great meal. Thank you, Cavalier Hotel, for making such a wonderful Christmas experience for us!! We can't wait to visit in the warmer weather to more fully enjoy all that the Resort has to offer!

Very elegant, updated hotel. Beautiful facilities. Indoor pool/jacuzzi is very spacious, clean, and the high atrium ceiling means it's not claustrophobic. Loads of tropical plants everywhere. The entertainment in the lounge area is also very good.

The hotel and staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome and pampered, especially Robert the doorman, who is a master of his craft. It would have been great if our one year-old hadn't gotten sick at the 11th hour and had to join us for our romantic weekend, but we still managed to have a great time. We will definitely be back.

We are Titanium members with Marriott so you would think that you would get you better treatment at the hotel. Marriott in our opinion has let us down informing us we would be ambassador level then changed the rules and took it away? Unbelievable we deserve to be ambassador level as long as we have been with Marriott? The service staff really did make our stay enjoyable not the management shame on them! They should give us 5,000 Marriott points just for putting up with this management! The two staff members—fantastic were Gabrielle at the Hunt restaurant this restaurant way better than the Becca and Jared the bartender at Becca he tried so hard to help but no service staff for breakfast had to eat at the bar usually that would be fine but it was our anniversary! Food took forever!Tell me why again why are we paying a resort fee when we can’t even have breakfast at a table in the restaurant being Titanium members?? You would be better off at a residence Inn with free breakfast! Then we Had dinner reservations that night at Becca for our Anniversary the table was so small we ordered the charcuterie board and had to place items on floor-menus candle etc ask if we could get another table they just ignored us! It took again forever for our food my husband’s steak was cold he didn’t eat it and the waitress just cleared the plates and never ask what was wrong? She then offers us an anniversary dessert we just took it to go because of all the terrible service at this restaurant! It was just a bunch of melted chocolate in a to go container. We just wanted to go back to our room which was the best part of the hotel unfortunately the rooms were small so really couldn’t enjoy room service in such a small space! This hotel was not worth the price! Pretending to be the Four Seasons but not!
