The hosts were friendly, but the facility is like bad joke. I booked with them based on other trip advisor reviews, but anyone who rated this place any better than "poor" has sadly low expectations. The bedding was threadbare and had hair on it, so it probably wasn't even clean. Dirty floors and carpets. No key for my dorm style... More

Birch Bay Hostel is an awesome place to spend a single night, or a few days for that matter. I stayed at the hostel for a brief period during april of 2011. My stay was awesome. The staff was super friendly and helpful. I was warmly welcomed with fresh baked goods at the hostel. I loved talking with the staff... More

My friend and I signed up for the Birch Bay half marathon and wanted to find a convenient location for lodging so we could head up to Vancouver the day prior. The hostel was the perfect place to stay, within ten minutes from the border and they even gave us a discount as race participants…great when you are on a... More

Been to the Birch Bay Lions hostel many times now. It is filled with new paint, original art and friendly volunteers and staff. The park is shows off local birds. I've seen deer, racoons and even a skunk. Cleaner than any of the 8 other hostels I have stayed at. Wi Fi is fast which helps me with my work.... More

This converted airforce barracks is not that attractive on the outside but has great accomodations. We stayed in a newly refurbished family room. It had lovely artwork, a semi-private bath (shared with one other room, which was unoccupied) and was really quiet. The beds were comfortable and the linens were new and clean. The kitchen area was well stocked and... More

My stay at the hostel was very nice. It is very close to Vancouver and Bellingham, which was its main appeal for me. The hostel was under construction when I arrived, however the room was very clean. The manager was friendly and answered all of my questions. I didn't have the opportunity to go skiing at Mt. Baker but i... More
