First, the good..and there's a lot. The proprietors are friendly, easy-going, and really show their commitment to the community and their guests. We stayed in the North room and it was clean, an excellent bargain as we didn't have to get 2 rooms even though we have a child. The upstairs library is cozy and stocked with an impressive array... Fertile Ground was our first stay after landing in Seattle. It was a very warm welcome by Gail. The room was nice and cozy. We had a little fight with the shower, but in the end we managed. Slept very deep, and had a delicious breakfast in the morning with veggie omelette and great advice for our trip by Gail.

We stayed in the Bamboo Bungalow because the B&B was full, but definitely enjoyed our accommodations. Unique, creative bamboo decor, well-appointed, comfortable. Nice quiet neighbourhood. Would be great for a family (second bedroom has twin beds).

This was my second stay at Fertile Ground Guesthouse. I come to Olympia every couple of years for business, and love this place. The proprietors are delightful, warm, and welcoming, and the house is cozy and clean. It's walking distance from great restaurants, the water, and a great yoga studio. I'll definitely be back!

We spent a couple of nights here as part of our family vacation (we actually wanted to book for the return trip but the rooms were already booked). We originally chose this B&B because it seemed kid friendly, and was it ever! In fact, we were there over a month ago and just today our son asked if and we... More

This was one of the highlights of our trip through the Northwest. The house is set right in the middle of a large organic garden in a cool neighborhood within a few blocks of the downtown restaurant district (including the Fish Tail Brewpub) Gail and Karen are charming, down-to-earth hostesses. We were lucky enough to arrive when a neighborhood festival... More

Olympia is a great little town to stay at and a gateway spot to Seattle, Vancouver, or the Olympic Peninsula. The hosts were wonderfully warm and helpful, the room was comfortable, cozy, and had all the extra nice touches that made our stay special. Breakfast was delicious: polenta triangles with fresh sauteed vegetables and egg scramble (eggs from their chickens!),... More

At Fertile Ground, you get the feeling that the rooms were arranged by people who actually had spent lots of time in them. Lots of small comforts that other B&Bs and hotels overlook - a pitcher of water in the room, comfy bathrobes in the closet, lighting that actually improves the room, and astonishingly comfy beds. The whole place is... More

SImply put, Fertile Ground is my shangri-la in beautiful Central Washington. I almost hate to write about it because each of the 6 times that I have stayed there, I have left ecstatic. Most wonderful hostesses, (I hate that word but Gail. Karen and Laurel are the women in charge), beautiful garden, lots of opportunities to learn about the community,... More
