We stayed at the Areca Palms B& B for two nights the first part of May. We knew it would be a nice place to stay because it is AAA rated, and when we drove unto the property, we were not disappointed, for it felt like we had arrived at an Hawaiian paradise, with the large expanse of green lawn,... In a residential area this b& b is very clean with spacious room and bathroom, nice light, near snorkeling, kona, botanical gardens... Breakfast was good too. Only problem was that the owner has a temper. She is mostly pleasant and helpful, but gets too easily annoyed and it led to a couple of unpleasant interactions. If this doesn't bother you,... More

We visited the Areca Palms Estate B&B for a week from Feb. 20-27 and chose it after reading reviews in Trip Advisor and checking out Frommers and Lonely Planet. Janice and Steve are more than hospitable and are truly anxious for visitors to get the most out of their stay. They quickly supplied us with everything we needed for the... More

Lovely home on a big piece of property. Steve and Janice were gracious and accommodating. Janice sets an elegant table with fresh fruits and baked goods. Steve had great advice for things to do and could also help identify local flora and fauna. More

We had a great 3 day stay. Our room was large, private and very comfortable, the grounds are beautiful and peaceful, and there is a wonderful covered lanai. The breakfasts are truly outstanding - exquisitely presented and delicious. Very hospitable hosts. Janice and Steve provided excellent information on things to do, made arrangements, and offered beach towels and snorkeling equipment. More

Steve & Janice clearly care about their guests having the best possible big island experience. In addition to clean & comfortable rooms, lovely refreshing breakfasts of native fruits, and the coolness of being at 1000 ft, they also provided suggested itineraries, made dinner & activity reservations and provided snorkeling equipment & beach towels. The location was perfect, accessible to the... More

We just returned from a great stay at a 4 room B & B on the Kona Coast of the Big Island. The 4 room inn is run by Steve and Janice, who are very friendly, warm and engaging. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The breakfasts are delicious and huge (you will not need lunch). Best of all, Steve... More

What a great find! We were lucky to find this place and booked it moments from taking our flight. We used it as our base to explore all of the big island with the exception of volcanoes national park with our rental car. The room was great, reasonably priced and the food - oh my goodness! We had such big... More
