Lovely large room, superb breakfasts, very good people, fantastic location. By far the best place to stay on the Hilo side of the Big Island. It's just a few minutes' drive to Hilo, where there are several good restaurants.

My wife and I spent 3 days exploring the East side of the island and this facility was a perfect and peaceful place to relax and settle in each day. The historical main house and it's Lanai was a wonderful place to enjoy a delicious island breakfast and start off our day each morning, the room was clean and full of amenities and the view was spectacular. The location is very near several of the areas attractions and the perfect distance from the city to enjoy the available shopping and dining options without having to navigate around the crowds and noise in the evenings. The facility also provided a room refrigerator, beach towels, a large cooler, and good recommendations for attractions, dining, and shopping options in the area. The Palms Cliff House is an all around great place to wind down and base your adventures from.

Surprised us! Despite many strong reviews, did not believe it could be this nice. This Inn was the perfect place to spend our final night on an otherwise busy trip. Located away from the city in a secluded area, it provides a relaxing setting overlooking the ocean. Comfortable rooms with large bathroom/shower, semi-private lanai, beautiful views from every room. Excellent breakfast served outdoors with ocean backdrop (except when cool and rainy, when the meal is moved indoors). Only possible drawback for some would be the distance to a good restaurant -- Hilo is 10 miles away, though the trip was easy. Staff was friendly and welcoming, including a complete tour of the inn on our arrival.

We found The Palms Cliff House Inn on Tripadvisor and were thrilled with the view, the accommodations and the hosts: John and Michelle. Every room has an unobstructed view of the ocean. We had everything we needed and the hosts, John and Michelle, made certain that we were comfortable. John was the chef during our visit and breakfast was tremendous as was the view fro the lanai as we enjoyed homemade baked goods, fresh fruit, coffee and juice. The location is 11 miles from the town of Hilo however, it is worth the drive to get away from the hustle and bustle. You will need to go into town for meals so you may want to plan ahead. Should you choose to bring food with you or pick something up in town, there is a microwave in the common room with plates, utensils, ice, etc. The room is only equipped with a fridge and small coffee maker. We had a great walk in the morning towards Akaka Falls Park. We were sad to leave this paradise but also found that two nights allowed us to enjoy the solitude before heading to the Volcano National Park. We love Kona and were also happy we made the choice to visit Hilo and the Palms Cliff House Inn.

This place is beautiful! The grounds are like a botanical garden! The staff was very friendly. My husband and I had stayed 2 nights in a place north of The Palms Cliff house. Wen we arrived at this lovely hotel, we kicked ourselves for not staying here the full 3 nights!. We enjoyed the large deck. We sat out and watched the stars come out and listened to the surf. The weather was perfect, we left our sliding glass doors open and fell asleep to the sound of the waves. Then watched the sun come up from our bed. The room is decorated beautifully. It was nice to have a refrigerator and coffee maker in the room. The common area was well stocked with plates and knives, wine opener and wine glasses for our Happy Hour on our deck. This place is what I thought the east coast of Hawaii would look like. The breakfast was delicious and way more food than we could eat.

What a beautiful place! Tucked back among the trees and overlooking the ocean is the Cliff House. We had a lovely island-themed room that was nicely kept each day as we adventured around the Big Island. A private balcony allowed us to simply sit in the evening breeze, feeling the gentle mist and looking out over the Pacific. Each morning we were served a delicious and varied breakfast while we lounged on the huge lanai. We saw whales one morning and dolphins on another. A true romantic getaway in a postcard setting. Plenty of privacy, great location on island, well-maintained, clean--can't say enough about a wonderful stay. Thanks!

This is a picture-perfect Inn with spectacular Pacific Ocean views and spacious, gracious, and well-designed rooms and public areas. Even the curving, palm-lined entry drive is pleasing. Both the rooms and the grounds are immaculate, and filled with nice touches, such as a four-poster, private balcony, fireplace, and bay window jet tub in our room, and little koi ponds and stone walls and sitting areas on the grounds. It's about 9 miles from Hilo's restaurants.

We stayed at the Palms at Cliff House Bed and Breakfast after a long day and a tour of the partner farm for Young Living Essential Oils Royal Hawaiian Sandalwood Restoration Project in Kona. We needed to rest after a long dark drive. YOU WON'T BELIEVE YOUR EYES! This Bed and Breakfast was the most representative of any pictures I have ever seen. I am not kidding. See it for yourself. We arrived late and our key was left in a basket at the front door with directions to our room which had a private entrance from the outside. The pathway was well lit so we did not get lost in the dark at 1030pm on the large property. There was also a key to a guest lounge which had snacks and drinks for a nominal price. There was a microwave for heating up a snack if needed and popcorn as well as a comfortable sitting area. We stayed in the Hawaiian Dreams room (which I chose as a standard room) It was supposed to be basic, which is what I wanted. I could not believe how beautiful it looked when I opened the door. I felt at home immediately! It also had an intimate and romantic feeling which was what was the intent. The room was large with plenty of light and the decor was exactly as the pictures on the website showed so there was no surprise. It was bigger than I thought though. The door wall opened up to a private lanai and I could hear the waves which was nice. It was too dark to see past the shrubs to the water, but it was a nice sound to lull me to sleep. I found a personal greeting with my name on it on the corner table which I found to be a very nice gesture and a beautiful keepsake with the meaning of Aloha as I recall. We found it to be very quiet for sleeping for being on the 1st floor. No foot stomping or walking could be heard above us. The bed was very comfortable (king size bed gave plenty of room) There is a Jacuzzi tub with a shower and the toiletries are supplied. We did not have the opportunity to experience breakfast due to arriving late and we were not able to give a heads up for a head count. This is my ONLY regret. We were driving from Kona and no signal on the phone to call. It is a 2 hr ride from Kona. We toured the grounds when we got up. Absolutely gorgeous views! The grounds are very well maintained. But the house is STUNNING. Decor is impeccable and so clean it would pass the White Glove Test!!!!!!! We did our Check-in and Check-out at the same time which was seamless thanks to Ashley who was very courteous and polite as well as a beautiful addition to the decor. We also met one-half of the home ownership Michelle. If you have the opportunity you really need to meet her. She absolutely loves her home! She talked to us freely and allowed me to photograph herself alongside Dave. She is always smiling, very polite and even though we did not qualify for breakfast did offer Dave a cup of coffee which he said was delicious and was a Kona mix. If she didn't have work to do and we did not have an agenda I'm sure we could have sat on the veranda and talked all day. She is just that type of person and has that type of personality. We will definitely see you again Michelle. We will stay more than one night and we will have a larger room on the top floor with breakfast the next morning. I promise!

The Inn is gorgeous, and the cliff-side setting is wonderful. But housekeeping is lacking. Two days we had to ask them to return and pickup wet towels off the floor and give us clean ones. I guess it's their policy not to change the bed linen--we didn't get it in 5 days. It's not a particularly friendly place, as run more like a motel. But the setting and the Inn are both very special.

What a perfect place for a relaxing getaway!! The first time we visited was such a delight that we had to return! It's the perfect place to get away from "busy"ness of life. It's peaceful, serene and a great place to unwind. The rooms are decorated tastefully with beautiful art work and Hawaiian decor. Everything anyone could need is there. We especially love the fireplace and the Jacuzzi for 2 with a view that's breathtaking! Breakfast is served on the lanai. Each day's menu is different with local fruits and island treats. All in all, we plan on staying there again to absorb more of the peace and tranquility.
