There are two places right on the water in Bar Harbor, Harborside and the Bar Harbor Inn. Both are excellent. The staff at Harborside is surpurb. Visiting by early June or past August is ideal to avoid tourists. I have never been disappointed in Harborside after multiple visits. The staff, along with an always burning fireplace, makes the stay delightful.

The view from our balcony and the jacuzzi were what made the hotel special for us. Room was nice and the marble bathroom appeared to be recently upgraded.
