My girlfriend and I stayed in a private room at this hostel during our vacation in SF. The hostel is well thought out. It has a complete public kitchen, a pub and many lounge areas to socialize with people around. The staff was nice and were very helpful for answering questions about the city. Our room was tidy and there... More

I agree with some of the other reviews. The location is bad. If it wasn't already mentioned, sleep with earplugs. The first night I slept there I thought I was Will Smith in "I Am Legend" enduring a night of screaming zombies. This is especially if you're on the side of the building facing the street. Other than that, the... More

Hostel like many others: rooms quite spacious for hostel standards, the breakfast likewise. Spacious common area and very involved staff with theme nights helping with integration - we were not looking for that but some may. The biggest problem is the location - the hostel is located on the border of a regular ghetto with lots of homeless and dangerous-looking... More

This hostel is nice. The staff is really friendly and the rooms are clean and quiet. Some disadvanteges are, the Wifi. Should barely be called a wifi. No good connection at all. Then the breakfast, it is just some bagels, tea and bad orange juice. But for the price I paid for the room I think that was okay. Just... More

The hostel itsel is fantastic. Great decor, very friendly and knowledgable staff, great beds and bathrooms, lots of free activities such as movies and free walking/bar tours, lots of great communal space, big kitchen and free wifi. The downsides are definitely the location. The area feels very dodgy and was hard to avoid. Nothing that bad but it was uncomfortable.... More

We were originally going to stay at HI City Centre, but binned that idea due to the dodgy area. Although this hostel's location still attracts it's fair share of colourful characters wandering about, they pretty much kept to themselves and we felt safe enough walking the streets of San Francisco. That said, as we were two females, we didn't wander... More

This says my first hostel experience and it was better than expected. The staff was always more helpful. Bathrooms are inside the rooms making it very convenient. They even have movie nights with free snacks. The only downside than is the neighborhood and noise at night. Having said that, I was never harassed even at night.

I would like to share my experience with City Center Hostel, because it was amazing. Me and my friend choose this hostel to stay here for last two nights in San Francisco. We had shared mixed bedroom with another 3 travellers. It was clean, bathroom was situated in the bedroom. Staff were very helpful. We could enjoy big continental breakfast... More

We stayed in a private room, top floor with views over the city. Hotel standards, great value for money. Area itself was less than exciting, but we walked back late at night nethertheless. We parked right outside the door, although it was not recommended by the receptionist. Would stay here again next time.

Not in the best part of the town but this is the only downside to this location. The private rooms can compete with any normal hotel and the staff here is very nice and so is the service. Not to forget the all you can eat pancakes in the morning
