We booked here for about 1 week due to some incidents we had to leave on the 3rd day. The main reason we booked here is because it's cheap and there are a lot of attractions nearby. The hotel was great there are some roaches and bugs here and there.

I came for business earlier this year and Civic Center Motor Inn was perfect. Its super close to downtown and public transportation. The rooms have been remodeled to look like they do on the website. Its a good spot if you are budget minded. The staff is more than accommodating. They were great! Thank you!

We feel really let down by Trip Advisor on this one. The description of the motel and the amenities is incorrect and has been for over a year according to the reception staff. There is no breakfast included, the kitchen shut down 12mths ago. Rude shock when it was one of the reasons we booked. The pool is there but was closed the entire stay - no reason as to why. Parking is not free, we didn't have a vehicle thankfully as parking was about $22 per night. The room itself was very dated, thankfully clean but very very basic. The sofa bed was terrible. There were no ceiling lights in the room, just 2 dim lamps. The WiFi was so bad we couldn't use it. The surrounding area is very very unsafe. If we hadn't been at the end of our trip to the US we would have moved accommodation. Not the Motels fault but I would not recommend families stay in this area.

We booked a stay here for one night and this place seemed great. They were available or short notice and affordable compared to everywhere else in the area. A couple of hours before check in they called us and said THEY were cancelling the reservation of us and assured us we would get a refund. After a couple of weeks the refund never came and so I disputed the transaction with my bank. Months later the case was dismissed because of the merchant's policy "The room type and selected rate are non-refundable. Should you change or cancel this reservation, your payment will not be refunded". Well, the MERCHANT WAS THE ONE WHO CANCELLED ON US. I've explained this to my bank but they said it is out of their hands. Disgraceful practice by Civic Center Motor Inn. Do not get lured by their relatively low price, they are a SCAM. CCMI, I will remove this review if you contact me and refund me

No frills, nothing fancy, just a decent, honest hotel that is a great place to put your head down for a couple of nights. Stayed here for 2 nights pre/post the Death Ride in Markleeville...a few other cyclists here too. Didn't really use any of the facilities, but had b'fats and evening meals in the hotel and both were good value, with attentive staff and a good selection to choose from. If I ever came back to do the ride again, I'd stay here.

WARNING!!.... we use to stay here years ago and got use to their "no smile no service" attitude, and we knew it was in a sketchy neighborhood but we never felt unsafe, but that has changed for the worse. The drugs have taken over the neighborhood and the hotel does nothing to control the street people from wandering all over the place. The hotel itself has finally finished its exterior facelift which was left half done for about 5 years so it looks fine from the street, but the rooms have gone from decent to disgusting. Not one dollar is spent inside the rooms for upkeep, it's very soiled and seedy from the "regulars" and people who seem to be living there. We will NEVER stay here again, it might be cheaper but it's not worth what you will have to deal with. Please don't give this dump your money. You can still stay over in Berkeley or Richmond areas for a decent price and do a 20min drive over the Bay Bridge into the city, or South San Francisco. DO NOT go cheap in S.F. and DO NOT stay at Civic Center Inn or the surrounding area, you will regret it!

I don’t often write reviews, but this was that terrible that I had to warn people. First of all, when we arrived the staff seemed not happy at all. The person sitting in the reception was very unfriendly and rude. Secondly, there were signs everywhere stating that personal things in our vehicles wouldn’t be safe even though the Hotel had private parking, all of these signs really made us uncomfortable. Alright, so we have that unpleasant check in experience, but it is getting worse. Next thing we come over is a bunch of shady people that don’t belong in the hotel standing outside at the parking area. Looks like they were dealing something, very unpleasant experience in regards to that the rooms were literally next to the street. The staff did not seem to care that there were random people standing around on private property. When we finally came to the hotel room. We were greeted with a very bad smell upon entering the room. Almost seemed like it smelled like urin, very unpleasant, found out that the smell came from the air condition. At least the bathroom seemed somewhat clean. All in all a very bad experience, and I would deeply discourage anyone to stay here for more than a night, if at all. The location was pretty central, but not a place you want to be around at night. In addition, the photos of the rooms did not match with what we actually did get - looked way better on the images. We decided to cancel our stay at this hotel the second day (we booked for 5 days) and find another hotel because of all the thing above in addition to that we did not really feel safe there.

If you are not staying long, and on a budget I would recommend this place. Other than an old stain on the bedspread we found it to be clean and freshly kept up, even if a little age showed in the details. There was only one towel and a bathmat (no hand towel or rag) when we arrived, but the desk answered immediately and our needs were met very quickly and courteously. I could nit pick and mention that you could see daylight through the door jam, and since the refrigerator is not enclosed it is a minor noise annoyance in a small room. The bed was just short of uncomfortable, but overall for the price charged we found it quiet and pleasant enough, and I would stay there again. There was enough parking available and the fee was very reasonable, and by requesting ahead, we were allowed to leave our car there for several hours after checking out without an extra charge. Though it was a bit of a jaunt, this allowed us to walk to our event at Chase Center and avoid the parking fee and hassle there (during daylight hours - I would not recommend that walk at night). There is a mini market a couple of blocks down the street that provided a better breakfast than the minimal free one, and if you don't mind a bit of a walk there are restaurants near enough (or you could always use a delivery service). SF is an expensive place to stay, and motel parking is often crazy expensive and sometimes inconvenient as well. This place was a decent answer to that.

Some rooms have unwanted guests, namely bed bugs. I don't know if there are some in all the rooms... But it's always quite a bad surprise to meet bed bugs in a hotel. Amenities are standard, bed will not be comfortable if you have back pain.
