I always stay here when in S.F., I prefer the old building to the tower as its a lot less noisy and always have a great room, often upgraded to a suite. Many of the staff have been here 30+ years and they remember the guests. The food is good and the choices good. The lobby area is a great... More

The lobby of the hotel is no less than spectacular. However, the rooms, while acceptable, have obviously not received the same loving attention as have the public areas of the property. Indeed, the rooms are bordering on shabby or run-down. Moreover, the rooms do not have insulated glass windows, so street noise is a problem. Also, there was a large... More

I was fortunate to stay at the Fairmont for a conference in late April. You can feel the history of the building when you arrive at the front doors. What a location to start a tour of San Francisco! I stayed in the Derby Suite and was next to the "secret" extra door the Presidential Suite. I pictured the Secret... More

Dear Guest, Thank you for sharing your recent experience at The Fairmont San Francisco. It sounds like you had a very nice time in the hotel. As you mentioned we have a storied history at the hotel including many tales of The Penthouse Suite. We are very proud of our lobby and think it is the most grand in the... More

Modern is not how I would describe this hotel, but it's still has the comforts such as high-speed internet access. If you are in town for a meeting, you can't beat it. I would also recommend this hotel if you would like to have a romantic get-away... Unfortunately, it has no swimming pool. More

After significant research into fine accommodations in San Francisco for a best friends wedding, we opted to book a suite at San Francisco's famous Fairmont Hotel. We were given a room in the north tower the "Tilden Suite". The room was slightly dated but but had a nice classic feel and the views were honestly close to perfect. We were... More

Stayed three nights on business. I had an interior facing room, so no view, but also no traffic noise at night. It was very quiet. The room was quite large. Huge closet. The bed was very comfortable. Some of the place sleep I've had at a hotel. The bathroom was large and clean. The lobby was large, with a number... More

This hotel was everything I expected it to be. We had amazing service, a gorgeous room looking over the Bay with views of Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bridge, a huge, very nice bathroom (with a shower spray that would almost knock you down - a compliment). The bed was extremely comfortable, though, pet-peeve, always hoping that these high-end hotels... More

I was lead to believe I would see the Golden Gate. No. The hotel promised a fantastic view. We got a great view of Alcatraz but neither bridge. Signiture tower rooms very nice indeed. Lovely bathroom. Lobby very grand and impressive. Gym well equiped. We were only in town for 3nights and did not get the chance to try any... More

This is to San Francisco, what The Waldorf Astoria is to New York. It's perched high on Nob Hill, and is steeped in history - from earthquakes to Tony Bennett. It's shiny and golden, and a little bit gaudy, but in a Buckingham Palace way. In the evening, the lobby is truly beautiful. The place is huge, but all the... More
