A very cool place. You can stay in the hostel, but they also have private rooms with simple porches looking out on the yard, and some very private cabins spread out over the property, which is extensive. All of this is part of a lively mix of people, conversations, decent kitchen, etc. And it is not as far from downtown... More

Well, specifically to Moab. But I knew exactly where I would be resting my weary head long before my trip started. I stumbled across the Lazy Lizard last summer and find it hard to believe there is a hostel in America that can come close to the relaxing, welcoming atmosphere that this place offers. It cracks me up how the... More

The Hostel itself is great. Awsome people there. From the help I.E Shane, and Francis, to the backpackers basing out of the hostel. We didnt meet a single person that made us nervous. The grills and kitchen make this the most affordable place is Moab. You feel like you live there after the first day. The only reason I couldn't give... More

Got to love guests that love the place despite its flaws. However, I do need to clarify that the beds absolutely, positively, unequivicably do come with sheets. (and blankets and pillows and even pillow cases.) From the description I can only assume that the guest was checked into a dorm room before the cleaning staff got there. These things can... More

I've been staying at the Lazy Lizard annually for about 15 years, but I 'm done. Maybe I've just grown out of it or maybe it was the huge black widow we found hanging above the door in the cabin. Upon mentioning this to the staff (who were not easy to find), the guy said "Oh yeah, they're all over... More

It's never a good thing to lose a long time customer. The people who keep coming back year after year are the bread and butter of the business. It is true that black widow spiders are common in this area, but you really shouldn't find one in your room. It is almost unheard of that they bite anybody, but if... More

Overall the Lazy Lizard gave us a spot to camp on, but the space itself is overladen with trash and we were surrounded by folks who seemed to be squatting there. More

Just to be clear, we do not have a campground. We have a patch of dirt out back. It isn't much, but we don't claim that it is. I took a walk around it just now and found neither trash nor squatters. If someone let you throw your tent back there on a night we were full I guess that's... More

It's definitely you get what you paid for, but we wanted something economical, and this did it! The cabin itself was clean, but the bedding really does need to be updated a little. The first night, the crowd was a little scary to us, but the second night a lot of Europeans and hikers arrived, and the atmoshpere was a... More

It's very cheap ,it's more of a trailer park style accomodation than a hostel.people live there Rooms wernt that clean, mattress was very stained we were too scared to leave anything in the room in case of bed bugs. Private room didn't get bitten so it was ok for the price &32. Tiny kitchen couldn't use it More

Most of the information in this review is either entirely untrue or completly false, or both. The Lazy Lizard is not a trailer park or "trailer park style accomodation". There is one small travel trailer and one old motor home on the property which are used for storage and maintenance supplies. It is not a permanent residence. We have a... More

Before I stayed here, my dad told me it was one step up from staying at a campsite with a tent...he was totally right! The nice thing about a hostel is a roof, electricity, and a mattress...that's about it. The Lazy Lizard Hostel was heavily occupied with hippies and hobos which made me feel uncomfortable for a while because of... More

It is entirely possible that on any given day one may encounter people at the Lazy Lizard who could conceivable described as hippies. There may be some long hair, possibly even a tie dyed shirt or two and people have been know to show up in sandals and the occasional VW bus, but I find the term hobos to describe... More

It is a little difficult to respond without knowing just exactly what this reviewer was afraid of. Moab is a small town with almost no crime. It may be one of the safest places in the country. I realize that some hostels are located in the middle of big cities and are surrounded by homeless people, drug dealers and all... More
